I don't really post here, but I thought I would, just to tell you you that maybe if you didn't act like a conceded asshole and never give your sources people might respect your opinion.
But anyways, I have a pre-accutrigger Savage Mk.II 22LR and an 1870's percussion pistol. Looking to buy a Makarov once I turn 21 and get my permits.
Pruss was a quality poster until recently. I think the desert heat is affecting him.
ive been shooting only AK's and russian/com block weapons for like a year now when i got into guns and today for the first time ever i shot an Olympic arms AR which was my friends dads that looks just like an m16a2 and i love me a good m16
it literally jammed every other round. i never knew AR's really sucked this bad. i mean when it would shoot i liked it but that was rare
Olympic Arms guns are legitimate shit, there's no denying that.
I remember i picture being posted of this gun, i think it wahttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6a/RK_62_76.jpgs a Finnish battle rifle. I kinda looked like a FAL on steroids, I have no idea what it was called but it looked awesome, could anyone find it?
And clean it every 5 rounds? If you're going to buy surplus, that is.
corrosive ammo isnt that big a deal
And clean it every 5 rounds? If you're going to buy surplus, that is.
You make it seem alot worse than it is.
And clean it every 5 rounds? If you're going to buy surplus, that is.
The barrel doesn't instantly rust shut after you fire a round of corrosive. It's pretty simple and easy to clean. Like 1 extra step from the normal cleaning process.
SO!
Kel Tec PMR-30, the .22WMR, 30-round semi-automatic handgun.

Opinions? If I had the money I think I might buy it. I've had nothing but good experiences with .22WMR, and I think quite highly of it. That and the fact that the mag holds 30 rounds and still has such a thin profile is a plus IMO.
[editline]4th July 2012[/editline]
Goddamnit, scratch everything I said. Is there a single fucking gun that Kel-Tec makes that isn't ridiculously fucking hard to find?
Are they even manufacturing guns at the moment? I know it sounds like a ridiculous question to ask of an arms company, but the rarity of their products seems to reflect on their ability to manufacture them in numbers, and it's frustrating to say the least.
Why are all of Kel-Tec's firearms so... how do I put this... beautifully ugly

I'm interested in buying a small handgun for self defense, would you have any suggestions? I know, pretty vague. Enjoy the challenge.

Probably sold out, unless they held out on stock. Apparently (after doing some snooping) they're no longer manufacturing the PMR-30 because the rifling wasn't significant enough to properly stabilize the round's trajectory (or something along those lines).
It just feels like Kel Tec loves to make good guns for about a year, then drop the line. It's infuriating.

How small?
Pocket pistol or something a little bigger? I'm getting a Glock 19 in two weeks or so. Never looked into Glocks much until a week ago - had an hour long discussion about them with my local shop owner. After pawing over every model he had, the 19 was the one that held my attention the longest. Small enough to conceal, big enough to make me feel confident in the power of the weapon.

I do like glocks, but I was also looking at some ruger models that are particularly small and manageable. I'd like to hear opinions though on what is most reliable, hopefully from someone who has used either weapon.
If you're new to shooting a Glock is a good choice, pretty damn simple to operate.
If you're feeling capable with dealing with a safety and a few other things during a crisis a 1911 or a SIG P228 might be a good choice
a Glock might not a good choice for a newbie since it doesn't have a manual safety, but it is very simple, affordable and well-built
i'd recommend trying to rent or borrow one before getting it so you know what you're buying though
That's the whole point. No safety to mistakenly leave on
some people feel more comfortable with knowing their pistol is "safe".
i'd pick a glock for a carry gun but i'd rather get a cz75 as a range shooter.
shooting yourself in the foot when unholstering the gun is worse than having to reach for the safety, right?
It's called trigger discipline
uh-huh
accidents do happen, you know
They happen with any gun.

SIGs don't really have an external safety. It can be fired double action.

Gonna go to an outdoor range in about an hour or so.
Gonna take pics and maybe a video, upload it.
I've been looking at a Glock 19. I've debated the non-external safety but I don't think it'll ever be my carry gun. Call me silly but does a Glock fire double action? I've never tried.
Glocks are great guns. I had a 19 as my carry gun for a long while.

I remember seeing 1 store in the whole country here that sells those, they're ugly as shit and I hate them, but that's just my opinion.
Celebrated the fourth by going to a family function, brought my AK and fired off a few mags over the course of the day. A ton of fun.
I spent my Fourth of July waving Chinese made flags and firing Russian guns.
glocks don't need an affirmative external safety

that little thing poking out of the trigger? a glock will never fire if that nub isn't being pressed.
Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire (aka something you should do with any gun ever) and a glock will be the safest firearm you could own
even if it didn't have that it's still got the most important safety any gun could have:

butt buttsex accidents happen!!
(hint: not if you actually enforce proper firearm safety. 100% of gun accidents are because of improper safety measures)
