Really now the only thing that really affects me is my uncle's side-by-side 12ga with both barrels loaded with 3in turkey shot. That is just waaaaaaaay too much for me.
The only recoil that is too bad for me, are 3.5inch 12gauge shells, they were the first shells I bought for my 12 gauge without knowing they were the largest available. If I shoot more than 5 in 5 minutes, my shoulder is definitely going to be paying for it. Those things are fucking insane, and if you haven't shot one, you just don't know.
the worst I've had is a 12 gauge over-under that fired both chambers simultaneously a lot
that was some serious recoil
I started on a .30-06 and for years that was all I ever shot. I thought for years that all guns kicked like a mule until I got my .30-30
What's the deal with .30-30? All I can think of when it comes to .30-30 is FUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDDFUDD

That it's a good round?
lol wat
.30-30 is a cartridge, not a gun
[editline]25th July 2012[/editline]
and rimmed rifle cartridges are painfully obsolete for civilian use
well yeah but .30-30 guns are pretty good guns
[editline]25th July 2012[/editline]
i think that's what zillamasta was after
and carl, it's basically the american equivalent of 6,5x55, except just not even a third as good.
(every single fudd swears to it)

Brain fart, news is talking about Guns, said gun, typed gun, drank milk, collapsed.
You know.

that's like saying "9x19 guns are pretty good guns"
you have glocks and Czs that are really good but then you have things like the hipoint that are just terrible

What the fuck matters if they're a fudd or not, holy shit.

generally pretty good guns. since people are sticklers about literal word-for-word interpretations
That it's a good round?
That's what I'm asking, why is it a good round?
went to the gun shop today and saw a .50BMG Ar-15
Went to my gunshop today and they were closed for the month.
They need to start putting that sorta information on their website before I drive 20 friggin miles there.

Yeah, those things are awesome.

I like the way it performs. I'm familiar with the ballistics enough that I can shot a dime sized group at 75 yards.

Yeah, my dad, sister and I all like the round, although my mom is fond of .30-06. We fire .30-30 from our Winchesters (originals from before the 1960s). One of them is from 1920-something, and the other one is from the 30s I think...

It's more like a 7.62x39 for lever action guns really
I got bored and decided to post pics of the lever action rifles that I mentioned earlier. They are Winchester Model 1894's.

My dad's has a compass in the stock.

Sorry for the bad pic, but you get the idea.
Also decided to take a picture of our total collection:

EDIT: Should probably say what they are before people ask!
Top Picture (Right to Left): Mosin-Nagant, Schmidt-Rubin, something very similar to a Kar98 (basically a..czech? steal), Steyr-Mannlicher carbine I mentioned earlier in the thread, Ruger 10/22, Winchester 1894, SKS, All-Matching Arisaka with mostly intact mum, monopod, and aircraft sights, No. 4 Mk. 1 Lee-Enfield (I think), and another Mosin-Nagant.
Bottom Picture (Right to Left): SKS with grenade launcher and scope, another of those Czech(?) Kar98 steals, another Winchester 1894, a Saiga converted back into AK format with synthetic furniture and rail system, an AR-15, a Springfield 1903A3, and an M1917 Enfield "Eddystone".
A question for any Canadians in this thread:
According to Wikipedia, you guys are limited to 5-round capacity magazines for semi-auto rifles, but for manually operated rifles, there isn't a limit. So, if you had an AIA M10 rifle in 7.62x39mm, which is bolt-action and uses standard AK mags, would you be allowed to own unpinned AK mags or what?
No, because the mag is made for the AK, not the AIA. However thanks to the 10-round AIA .308 mags that are different enough to not be M-14 mags, we can use 10-round AIA mags in an M-14.
Besides, AKs are banned here, except the Valmet ones, and those go for over 2 grand if you can find them.

My converted Saiga came with this little, puny, pathetic 10 round mag for California.
...
And this is why I live in Virginia. 30 round mag all the way!
So, a friend of mine sent me this link just a bit earlier today. Because I already have a bunch of clips and plenty of ammo I don't really care a lot for this. http://www.sgammo.com/product/surplus/300-round-can-762x54r-russian-surplus-ammo-stripper-clips It is a pretty damn good deal, at least I think so. Thought I would share it with you guys.

That is a good deal. Whenever we eventually run out of ammo for our Mosin Nagants, I'll be sure to point this out.

I got this ammo can. It's an amazing deal. The clips are high quality and feed like a dream right out of the box, unlike plenty of the new production clips out there.

I'm going to have to get it. :v:

Damn, I first saw those on aimsurplus literally 2 days after I ordered 880 rounds for my mosin nagant. I got some reproduction clips and they are garbage.

Ah, ok. Interesting that they allow that, do the people in power just not know that the AIA mags will fit in an M-14 or are they ignoring that little loophole?
I'm going to have to get it. :v:
Probably the only negative I've experienced is that the rounds themselves are a bit dirtier than most of the surplus I've used. But that is hardly a big deal, it's all surplus :v:.
