I still can't get the bayonet on my Nugget. The bayonet is cosmoline-free. I liberally coated it with oil hoping it would slide nice and easily on, but that didn't work. I think I'm just gonna give up on it.
I've heard that Mosin bayonets really only like to fit on the rifle they were made for, so maybe you have one that wasn't originally for your rifle. Also, as someone said earlier, they weren't really meant to come off anyway, as troops were trained to fight with them on at all times, and the M44s (not sure about the M91/30s) were sighted with the bayonets extended.
The soviet arsenal in WW2 was basically an accident waiting to happen.
I thinking of changing the stock on my nugget. Maybe something synthetic and lighter. Maybe even convert it in to a hunting rifle. I got a really nice scope and i think i could really turn it in to a sharpshooter.
So i guess i got myself a project.
I'm here to ask the nugget masters, any good stocks that are solid products? Also what about a very reliable scope mount? Main reason I ask is because i guess the clamps on my rifle are not that great, after a few shots the front section of the stock starts sliding off of the barrel.
I'm not trying to bubba it up, no tactical shit. I prefer to keep it as simple as possible, but functional.
Ideas?
Also side note, I want to see if my nugget has matching parts and such. Is there a nice guide to look up a bit of history on it and gives information if it was just a re-stamped gun?
Yeah the bolt looks ground down or polished and the main reever/barrel area looks like it has the electropencilled. I paid like 60 bucks for the rifle, so it does not matter. Has nice firepower and could make for a nice project. I'll take a look at the wooden stocks.
What about scope mounts? Tell you what Though, I really do like boyd's stocks. Its a shame they're all on back-order at the moment.

The bayonet serial number matches all the other ones on the gun.
I think it's just too tight. It gets to the point right before where I'd be able to twist it before it gets stuck.
I've seen that picture before
Did you post it sometime last year?
Yeah, January of last year.
They've expanded their collection to include an old WW1 water cooled gun and an MG-42
holy shit apparently my mosin is an ex-sniper.

Not sure if you have the tools available to you, but if you do, this video is exactly what you are looking for:

Probably very used if it went for the price of a normal 91/30.
Probably very used if it went for the price of a normal 91/30.
Nah, its actually in very good condition.
I think that the gun store I got it from didn't know that it's an ex sniper, and is just a normal mosin.

Yeah, that's another good explanation.

I have the same issue and saw that. Too bad I don't have a long metal tube of that exact diameter and size laying around.
I was about to post that, luftwaffle. Mr X look through Iraqiverteran8888 videos and you will find a video of them amking a sporterised mosin that looks half decent.

I love it when that happens. I paid $803 for my M1A National Match. They go for about $1800 on Gunbroker.
My biggest issues is going finding a good mount for the nugget. I would like to get a solid drill and tap set but that is going completely insane for me to do. I have no equipment for that. Plus I wouldn't even begin to know what I was doing.
Also found out that my rifle is a Russian/Soviet Dragoon or Cossack, and Izhevsk branded. Date on it is 1942r. Nothing special i guess.
How hard do you guys think it would be to have a regular 91/30 bored for a PEM scope mount? Would a gunsmith be able to do it with ease?
A proper gunsmith shouldn't have any trouble doing anything. It just might take some more money and time than you are willing to use.
Does the stock have the inlet?
If by inlet, you mean the drill hole on the other side of the side wall, then no, its covered by the stock.
You're right, I think the PU is sexier. Does that still require a bit of the stock to be cut?
is 300 a good price for a yugo SKS?
I heard you guys like Saigas

SWEET CHRIST those prices.
Found some alternatives though:

In all it would run me about $130, worth it?

Even if they're repro, they still look nice in my opinion

This one?

I traded it for the one in the pic. Thing was nice for a marksman rifle, but not so much for the setup I have had it in. It weighs one and a half pounds, just the stock. Plus, I like the cheekweld on this one better.
So I fired an Enfield Musket Saturday as part of a Civil War Reenactment . Was fun.
Glad I got back to the apartment early tonight sounds like there's a hell of a hullabaloo kicking off on the street across from the gate of the oul' Peacewall, I'm hearing a few bangs and and an odd "rat-a-tatat" This is what happens when I go to my cousins house for the weekend on leisure. I honestly want to even the ends from the south side at this stage cause the noise is stopping me from sleeping.

It's mostly just thugs with nothing to do but fight each other every month, fireworks, bricks and bottles. But tonight you got the hard cases in there apparently one side went over and defaced a mural and there was a shootout of sorts. Ii just watched made popcorn then went back to bed.
Yeah, leave it like that. I too love that color on rifles.
