I sanded down my Mosin from this: http://i.imgur.com/oZEDB.jpg a while ago. I never did post up the finished result but I turned out much like yours.
Man, you guys have me really wanting to do this. There's a store not far from here that literally has water barrels full of stock that they sell, I might pick one or two up to do this.
The quality of your guys mosins are nice. Mine is pretty low quality, i even redid the stock and the wood was pretty shitty.
Not to worried about it, but just saying. Nice final products on all yours.
Took my SKS out finally, my friend took his Taurus 1911 out of the first time, too. Turns out his extractor is fucked, so his wasn't very fun to shoot. I learned what SKS thumb is (on my first shell, it was a derp moment.) Set up one of those exploding targets at about 100 yards, took aim and fired, hit it on my first shot, which was surprising for me. Good day.
My Mosin if you guys never saw it, took the image from my Google+ page so if you can't see it, tell me and I'll put it up somewhere else:

Ya know what... I hate the guy who owns my local gun store... and it's not because he is an ass or something. It's cause he has the balls to price a Mosin at $290. And here is the kicker, the M44 there is $230. Talk about bull shit.
My Mosin has a pretty awesome stock. I can tell just from looking at it that it saw a lot of battle. Various scratches (even some initials, which is pretty cool) add to the look, plus there's something that I think looks like blood on the end of the stock, but I don't know.
Range day!
Shot my coworker's M&P-15/22 (fun), My AR (also fun), my M1A (alright, need a cheek riser to get up to the scope), my SIG (fun) and 1911 (kept failing to feed).
Also shot a CETME (very fun. Lighter recoil than the M1A) and a .454 Casull revolver (OH MY GOD)
I have a dilemma
With my budget, I can get one of the following options:
•Some O/U or pump shotgun and Mauser K98kF1 or Mosin Nagant M44 - ammo is expensive for both of the latter if I don't reload
•Cz 455 American w/ 2 barrels and scope
•Mosin Nagant M44 or Mauser K98kF1 with reloading equipment and a batch of powder, casings, bullets and primers for the rifle I get (7,62x54R or .30-06)
•Shit-tier Weatherby rifle with optics, .308 or 6,5x55
Anything but the Mosin.

If you want cash to spare, buy a pump shotgun.
I'd go for the CZ myself.

Got something against using cheap as dirt surplus in the Nagant? Also how much is that .30-06 Mauser? Because it might be cheaper to go for a Chzech or a Yugo or something that shoots 8mm, which is also super cheap surplus.
So thinking about getting me a Remington 700.
Thoughts?

Do it now.
So thinking about getting me a Remington 700.

Remington 700's are very nice rifles that will serve you well. Despite what CBS (or CNBC or MSNBC, I can't fucking remember which one made that documentary 'Remington Under Fire')
And I'd stay away from 770's. Their basically 700's but made out of cheaper parts. -le snip-
My main appeal is i want a nice bolt action to do long range target shooting. Maybe even hunting if need be.
The one i was looking at was a 770. It was cheap less then 300, but i need to look in to the regular 700s.

Ruger Super Redhawk
Short barrel, very wide girth. Looked like a flare gun :P
Shot in single action, had massive recoil. More than the .50AE Desert Eagle I shot a few years back. Gun is louder to everyone around, but seemed quieter when I was shooting it. Could have just been because of the concussion hitting me, though. Still put a smile on my face, even if it was an abusive relationship.
My store has the 770 for $299, with scope, and I still wouldn't get it. It's an introductory gun, one people get for hunting if they're not sure they'll like hunting, essentially a throwaway, a gun for their first season, and when they realize they like hunting, they get a real gun for the next year. The 770 is a cheap piece of crap, I can't imagine it's immensely accurate, and I doubt it'll last long. When it goes for $300 with the scope included, that raises red-flags in my head about quality.
Save the extra few hundred and get a real 700, and a nice piece of glass for it. It may run up to $1200, depending on the variant of the 700 you get and the optics you put on it, but it's a far better gun that'll perform better and last you much longer than the 770.
By dad wanted to get a Remington 700 but since our Mosin, he wants to get second world war rifles mostly :v:
Thinking of an enfield SMLE or No.4 (we know where to get one for around $375-500) or a Mosin M44
Get the Enfield if you already have a 91/30.

Garand
Garand
'Strayla mate
Even if semi auto's were easy to get here, Garand would be almost impossible to find.
Plus imo bolt actions are more fun anyway.
edit:
What the fuck, was shooting my Winchester Wildcat (Toz-78 in other words), and some shit flew back and hit me in the eye. I don't even know what it was.

Actually no, they come up in Australia a couple times per year on Usedguns.com.au. Usually going for 2-4k dependent on condition. See M1 Cabines, SLRs and AR15's a couple times per year too.
And I take it you've never fired a semi-auto have you? :v:

You've obviously never fired a semi-auto.

Yeah okay but 2-4k is way to much for my budget.
Plus I don't have a semi automatic license and I don't want to go through all the bullshit to get one.
pageking are you fucking serious

Throwing a lot of lead down range is fun, but accurately hitting targets is a lot more fun to me. Both have their advantages.

Minimi's are fun.
I live about 15 min away from the Remington Arms manufacturing plant in Ilion, NY and my friend who works there was telling me that the other day Remington had made its 10,000,000 870 shotgun.
