Regardless of what Remington says, the only actual difference in the CDL and the SPS is the stock, and the blue vs. matte finish (both the same as far as finish performance). You can get a 700 SPS for less than $500, then get pillar bedded stock of your choosing, and come out with a cheaper, better rifle.
Thanks for the info, but it's simply impossible to buy an after market stock in my country, nobody sells them. So it's the CDL or the plastic SPS, and since i want a gun that'll last me for decades, I'd rather do it properly.
do I get a Lee-Enfield for around $440 or a Mosin Nagant for around $500, I live in Australia

does the nugget have a scope?
neither have a scope, however there is another Lee Enfield with a scope, but it is not something I am bothered about. It's more of a matter that i'm interested in old rifles and dad wants to go feral pig hunting.
Not sure about pricing for a nugget for you ausies, but 500$ seems a bit much for one. I've seen worse pricing for the enfield, but I'd expect .303 to be way more expensive than 7.62x54r, you may be better off getting a nugget if you don't plan on reloading.
IMHO, the Enfield is a better rifle. Especially considering the price of that Mosin. I could be wrong, but I feel like .303 might be slightly more available in Australia as well, seeing as they issued the round for nearly 60 years.

What model Enfield is it?
What's the bore condition, rifling, etc. for both rifles?

That's awesome!
I'm seriously thinking about buying the PTR91 PDW and putting a stock on it. Opinions? I'd love an SBR...

Although, I vote wood stock for ~classiness~
Well I've been looking into the parts I can get since I work at a gun store and it seems a retractable stock might be the best way to go, considering I can get it at my price for 120$. Here's what I have in mind:

Holy FUCK that thing puts out a fireball.
well yeah it's kinda .308 out of an 8 inch barrel
Jesus, those SBRs are fucking sexy
do I get a Lee-Enfield for around $440 or a Mosin Nagant for around $500, I live in Australia
I have both, and although the Enfield is more enjoyable to shoot, it costs a lot to feed unless you reload.
Just a question, what state do you live in? You should take a look at http://www.lawranceordnance.com/, which is based in Sydney, because you can get mosins for $375 plus surplus ammunition
Lawrence Ordnance are pretty good, not to mention damn cheap. My little bros M44 came from them

If I had to choose between a Lee Enfield and a Mosin though, I'd go the Lee any day. Fucking love them

Unfortunately I live in Cairns so about as far north as you can go, is delivery a possible option to a local gun store
Unfortunately I live in Cairns so about as far north as you can go, is delivery a possible option to a local gun store
Yeah, delivery is an option. I live in Melbourne and got our mosin and ammunition delivered to a nearby gun shop.
So after falling in love with the MAG-7 in CS:GO, I decided to do a bit of research on the shotgun because of how odd it looked/functioned.

Seems pretty cool, there's a version with a stock too. But the idea of the 12g magazine being fed through the grip... that's kinda awkward. Must have to have b-ball hands to use this thing.
And then I discovered that there's a version of it that's a FUCKING GRAPPEL GUN.

holy fuck i can be batman with this thing.
So, I went to my local gunshop today again, to see if the price on Saigas got a bit lower.
Instead I found that, while the (military-looking version, mind you) remains at 730€, I can get a Norinco AK for about 500-550.
Should I? I heard their stuff is sometimes hit-or-miss, either self-destructing in a matter of weeks or becoming CHINA STRONG and surviving the apocalypse without a scratch.
[editline]24th August 2012[/editline]
Also, their "cool shit from Izhmash" catalogue nearly made me pop a stiffy: aside from your ordinary AK in black polymer furniture, there were also a .223 version, a Saiga-12, a Tigr and a FUCKING VITYAZ HOLY SHIT.
Plus, all also had the variant with triangular folding stock available. Time to start organ trafficking, for I want all of them.
Every Norinco gun I've handled felt very subpar. If I were you, I'd save for the Saiga
Are you sure? I've seen Norinco AR-15s working after being abused (as in, shooting until they start to smoke, to be cooled down by dipping them in filthy water) and the Canucks seem to be happy with their chink M1As.

Stay away from Norinca. I've gone down that route more than I care to admit. They are great for awhile, and hold up to decent abuse, but it WILL fail.
I haven't had any troubles with my norinco AK. If I were you though, I would save up and get a real saiga instead.
Every Norinco gun I've handled felt very subpar. If I were you, I'd save for the Saiga
Don't talk smack on Norinco, I have a Norinco SKS and it's one of the most solid guns we own. It was extremely dirty and fouled up when we bought it, and despite the previous owner never cleaning it, he said it always shot perfectly. 10/10 would recommend
Undoubtably, but the chinks still seem to produce decent firearms.
...except Ven Kaeo's shotgun.
oh my god
are you dense?
an SKS manufactured in the fifties is not the same as a modern 1911 or ar
Not trying to start trouble, I'm just saying not all Norincos are bad, and I own a good Norinco.
sorry for the misunderstanding
