If a c96 has a stock attached isn't it an SBR? You don't have to be 21 to buy an sbr afaik

I believe the C96 is exempt, as long as the stock is the one that was originally with the gun (which, AFAIK, is very hard to prove for or against)
Had a Red 9 C96 at my local shop a couple years ago for $500. I wasn't 21 at the time :(

No, if it was an SBR it wouldn't be legal here. I believe it's still classified as a pistol since the stock is removable
What sort of shithole do you live in that sbrs are illegal
Michigan.
Move far away asap
To a nice place like PA.
At least you dont live in NY, home of the shoulder thing that goes up
There's one thing I can't grasp about SBR laws though.
Requiring checks, paperwork and restrictions if you want to saw down a rifle is understandable, since you're making it more concealable and blah blah yadda yadda. But if you want to add a stock to a pistol, why does it require the same hassle as the other way around?
You have to be 21 to buy a handgun or anything classed as a pistol, AND you'd be making it longer, bulkier and harder to hide in your pants/jacket/whatever. It's not logical at all.

because it makes it easier to hip fire and kill cops with and you can mount a bayonet and a grenade launcher to it!1111

We are a full auto state though C:
Afaik, SBRs are the only kind of firearms that are illegal here. Other than that we actually have fairly lax firearm laws

Are you kidding?
Are you kidding?
it's literally just one ATF form that you have to fill no matter where you are. some states prohibit ownership of NFA items (but we don't like those states) but none prohibit use

Neither do California, New York and I'm fairly certain Massachusetts.
Neither do California, New York and I'm fairly certain Massachusetts.
massachusetts I know allows them, New York I'm not certain about but I think it's just New York City. California only requires a separate license to own automatics. it's the same state-issued license that allows ownership of SBRs and SBSs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_(by_state)
California:
NFA weapons restricted? Possession of automatic weapons or short-barreled shotguns or rifles prohibited without DOJ "Dangerous Weapons Permit"; permission rarely granted outside of film industry. Suppressors (aka silencers) prohibited. AOW's (Any Other Weapons) permitted, except for "pen guns."
Massachusetts:
A license to possess or carry a machine gun may be issued only to a firearm instructor certified by the Criminal Justice Training Council for the sole purpose of firearm instruction to police personnel, or to a bona fide collector of firearms upon application or renewal of such license.
A "bona fide collector of firearms," for the purpose of issuance of a machine gun license, shall be defined as an individual who acquires firearms for such lawful purposes as historical significance, display, research, lecturing, demonstration, test firing, investment or other like purpose.
I can't find any laws regarding full auto in New York state

illinois and new jersey are the only ones I can remember now that disallow full auto and lets be honest how often do you remember either of those states
[editline]30th August 2012[/editline]
and iowa but again who remembers that state
[editline]30th August 2012[/editline]
washington and rhode island don't forbid them but they're pretty heavily restricted to the point of prohibition not making them any harder to get

as far as I remember, anyone with an FFL other than type 3 or 6 can own an automatic weapon in New York.
as far as I remember, anyone with an FFL other than type 3 or 6 can own an automatic weapon in New York.
nope, possession completely banned
if you already owned one prior to the ban I think you can still technically own it but cant transport, sell, or dispose of it
[editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
Oh and FFL type doesnt supersede local laws, just FYI

bro FFLs other than 3 and 6 are dealer and manufacturer. where do the police get their automatics then?
Up until about 6 years ago full autos were completely illegal to posses here. And up until just recently suppressors were also illegal to own. States, counties, and cities can independently regulate any NFA items they please regardless of their legality at a national level.
I was gonna rage so hard when he put the AK next to the STG44 but then he correctly IDed it and made the differentiation :v:
Excellent watch, nice to see a guy who knows what the fuck he is talking about
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised also, he just seems like a very good professional in general. Many MDs could not give a fuck about anything unless it comes from a medical textbook, no matter how useful extracurricular knowledge may be. They are the shit doctors and there are a lot of them unfortunately.
