Got my nagant yesterday, was late so I decided to start cleaning it today. 1943 round receiver, izhevsk make. [t]http://i.imgur.com/LugyL.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/pJNQp.jpg[/t] I'm not sure on how to get the cosmoline out of the stock. Right now I'm leaving it wrapped in some newspaper and covered in foil in the sun.
I'm not sure on how to get the cosmoline out of the stock. Right now I'm leaving it wrapped in some newspaper and covered in foil in the sun.
Grats on the rifle! Getting the cosmoline out of the stock is a real bitch, I wiped mine down with an old T-shirt then let it sit out in the south Georgia sun for several hours, flipping it and wiping it down every so often. That got almost all of it out, the rest cooked out after I took it shooting and put some rounds down range.
I let it soak in denatured alcohol in the sun for a while and then bake it anything else out whenever I've got a cosmo covered stock
Or, or, or. Buy a 20$ heatgun from Wally World Take it outside Get an Oven Mit and all that jazz. Move the heat gun CONSTANTLY, don't let it rest on one spot for too long. The cosmoline will literally just drip off or start to bubble up
Buy Black Garbage bag. Put stock in bag. Grab cold beer. Let sun do your work.
I'll probably just wipe the cosmoline off the stock when I go out and shoot it. [t]http://i.imgur.com/iXYHm.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/If7QH.jpg[/t]

Hey guys, long time no see. If ya'll remember me. I went off to USAF BMT on april 24th and graduated back in June, but have been too lazy to post here again.
Well, I'm disappointed to say the least. I had wanted to go out shooting one last time before I go to boot camp, and a friend promised me he was gonna try and get me out with him and his dad. Counting on this, I made no other plans for today. By yesterday, he hadn't said anything. And today, I've texted him and messaged him on facebook, getting a response from neither. It's 4pm and too late to make any other plans, so my Nagant is just gonna sit there till god knows when with at least 40 rounds of ammo gathering dust.
That was my last post here before I left. My mosin is still home, and I miss it alot. Buuuuut, me and some friends found a local range that had some rentals, and we had a little fun....Also, I fired a full auto sten. Arent you supposed to grip that sten like a rifle?
you're gripping it like a goof
I can understand how that would be uncomfortable, though
I can understand how that would be uncomfortable, though
How does that look comfortable? Sticking you thumb through a steel hole?

Looked like a ton of fun, but I think the Sten needs more orange tape. Also Definitely*
Hello, gunkittens, I hope somebody here can answer my question. I've done a lot of soul searching, and one day while meditating, the soul of Adolf Hitler came to me and screamed. It was then that I knew his anguish and pain over the loss of the war. I decided to stop doing acid around that time. Anyway, about a week ago I started to look into doing a G3 clone build and I've become stumped. How exactly does one legally go about doing such a thing? I'm pretty sure if somebody were to take one of the flats and run it through a press, a little welding here and there and some assembly, that might make the ATF a little angry with me. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone know somebody who has? I'm kinda unsure as to where to go from here, but I'd like to do it. I can't afford a PTR91 or HK91, and doing a build myself seems much cheaper if my math is correct.
Perfectly legal. You can make your own non-nfa weapons without a permit, registration or anything in the US. But. Being an imported parts kit, you have to have a certain number of non-foreign made parts in you gun, otherwise you'll be committing a serious crime. Google "922r compliance". Pretty much anything in the gun counts. Pins, springs, hammers, rollers, you can even use magazines, but if you swapped the magazine with a foreign made magazine you'd be breaking the law so I'd suggest not.
God, that's such a stupid law.
Yep, but at least they can build their own firearms and own semi-auto rifles. Fuck John Howard and his bushy eyebrows [editline]1st September 2012[/editline] Oh, and fuck Martin Bryant and his 60 IQ
you're gripping it like a goof
For the life up me i couldnt figure out how to hold it right, so i went with what worked. I wasnt exactly going for accuracy

Gold-plated polymer stock. Greatest idea since the clip-fed lever action revolver shotgun carbine.

Who the hell buys a drum magazine with a bunch of holes drilled in it? And then somehow fit it into his armpit.
