I think also because they were apparently selling to triads in California. Also, everything I've heard about the Norcs in Canada is that they all function perfectly, but the finish is kinda crap. I've also heard some of the earlier M14 clones had issues with the scope mounts designed for them, but not the newer ones. All the M14s, AR-15s, Tokarev clones, 1911s, and Sig clones apparently all function perfectly and accurately, they just look cheap, and considering the most expensive Norinco gun is their AR-15 at ~$700, they are pretty cheap.
Fucking ridiculous. I mean, the French sell to every goddamn African dictator that's ever existed, and we can still import stuff from them.
You're gonna enjoy our gun laws after the premier shooting! OH BOY I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT. Really, if anything comes of this I will be so butthurt my asshole will pucker so tight it will fold in on itself. [editline]5th September 2012[/editline] I am clicking my heels together like Dorothy trying to get home hoping for no new gun control [editline]5th September 2012[/editline] THERE'S NO PLACE FOR GUN CONTROL, THERE'S NO PLACE FOR GUN CONTROL,
I can think of a few good places for gun control legislation. The wastebasket or the landfill for example.
So do you guys know anything about de-demilling a parts kit? What does it mean when something is demilled, anyways? I ask because of this: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=303790227#PIC
Extractors seem to break often...
It's not broken. It just doesn't extract properly (a common issue with springfield 1911s, apparently). We're going to try a few tricks, and we're also going to take it to the range again just to verify that it just wasn't sticking do to...me not cleaning it when I got it... (please don't kill me!) Fun fact, my 1911 was made in 1991.
What's it's serial? If it's relatively low that thing could be worth a good deal of money.

You'd have to find or make a stripped PSL receiver for that kit to be useful.

I ask because of this: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=303790227#PIC
Demilled means they cut the receiver in half with an oxy-accetylene torch. They pull out all the parts in the receiver and sell them as a parts kit
So essentially, if I were to want a PSL of reduced price, in theory I could: Buy a parts kit Buy a parts-ready receiver Assemble, rivet, bolt and screw as necessary ??? Save money Also yes I know about the foreign parts requirement, and fuck that. Are they going to have me field-strip it and then trace every individual serial? It's ridiculous.
you could do that, yeah. honestly 922r compliance is so easy to follow its not even worth breaking the law
The punishment for not being 922r compliant is so high, while changing $50 worth of parts is not [editline]5th September 2012[/editline] You might have a bit of trouble finding a PSL receiver

Not too worried about that honestly, and you guys are probably right about the 922r compliancy. That being said, it's an annoying law that blatantly caters to American arms manufacturers.
Well, there you go. I suspect head spacing will be difficult though
What is head spacing?
What is head spacing?
^^^
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headspace_%28firearms%29 its a pretty simple concept but your measurements have to be 100% precise
There are plenty of site that are dedicated to building guns from parts kits. I'd suggest checking them out as they'll tell you about headspacing and such
What's it's serial? If it's relatively low that thing could be worth a good deal of money.
It's serial is above 100,000. I 'm too tired and lazy to dig it out. :v: It was manufactured in 1991 by Springfield. It'll probably be valuable 30 or 40 years fown the road.
Wow, I'm an idiot. I read what you said as "My 1911 was made in 1911."
What I wouldn't give to have a first year 1911...
What I wouldn't give to have a first year 1911...
A couple thousand bucks? :v:
I'm thinking I'll probably get a Norwegian M1914 instead, I rather like them. Slightly more affordable than original 1911s anyways and kind of unique in a way.
get the ones that the nazis stole and have nazi badging
Sure I'll hop on that. I'm sure that it will we totally easy and inexpensive to acquire one of 920 pistols marked with the waffenamt
My little brother just dropped $1,900 on a Luger Pistol. He said he wants to go shooting sometime so i guess i will have to join him and try and get some rounds off in my Springfield XD before i sell it. ( I hate typing out XD...i feel like no gun should have a name that forms a stupid smiley face emoticon)
Yeah, same. The internet has forever corrupted those two letters combined in that way.
Sure I'll hop on that. I'm sure that it will we totally easy and inexpensive to acquire one of 920 pistols marked with the waffenamt
they're awesome so your argument is invalid

Well, I do suppose it is my fault considering I didn't store in properly. The box must have been too humid, doesn't help that I have a swamp cooler, either. [t]http://i.imgur.com/35Bao.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/gLfgN.jpg[/t]
that's just a bit of surface rust, it'll come off with a brass brush no problem
yeh, brush it and wipe it down with some rem oil and it'll be OK.
