man her hip/waist ratio is like zero she's got the same womanly figure as a 2x4
i would never picture someone like her to have an obrez
chances are it's her boyfriends or brothers, with a figure like hers it would probably knock her off her feet .
I don't know why people think otherwise but 7.62x54 has a really mild recoil that any experienced shooter can handle
I realize the recoil isn't bad, but it's killer on people with small frames.
no not really
Recoil-wise, it's on the heavier side of of centerfire rifle rounds. I would in no way classify the 7.62x54r as mild recoil. And definitely not really mild. I'd say moderate-heavy recoil, as it's a little stiffer than the other 30 caliber rounds like .30-06 and .303 and 8mm Mauser.
If you think a full power centerfire rifle cartridge is mild recoil, your scale is skewed. Mild recoil is .30 Carbine, .223, 5.45x39 and 7.62x39 and other intermediate rounds
those have hardly any measurable recoil at all.
You're not a billy-badass because you act like rifle cartridges don't have recoil.
im buttsexV3 and im too cool to feel recoil
You're not a billy-badass because you act like rifle cartridges don't have recoil.
I understand that metal buttpad on your typical nugget isn't the most comfortable thing in the world but really if you take that out of the equation and swap it with a rubber one it doesn't feel any worse than any .30-30, especially out of a longer gun like a 91/30. I'm not saying I'm a billy-badass (mostly because I've never heard that term and think you made it up), I'm saying 7.62x54 probably has the most overstated recoil of any cartridge available.
Billy-badass is just a term I heard a lot when I was in South Georgia growing up.
While I agree that 7.62x54r has over-dramatized recoil, saying it's mild or non existent isn't exactly correct. It does have quite a bit of recoil.
it has more than an intermediate cartridge sure but it's not an intermediate cartridge. as far as full power rounds go, 7.62x54 has one of the weaker recoils
I probably should have just brought out numbers right at the beginning
http://www.chuckhawks.com/recoil_table.htm
13.1 pounds of recoil
compared to .308 at between 15 and 18 pounds, or .303 at 14-15, or .30-06 at 17-20, or .600 Nitro Express at 154, 7.62x54 has a pretty weak recoil in comparison.
[editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
and .30-30 is up at 12.7 pounds of recoil so I'm going to go ahead and continue to say that 7.62x54 doesn't kick considerably harder than .30-30
I want to break up this circle jerk to let everybody know I love my M1 Carbine. It's an all around enjoyable gun. I even love just finger fucking it.
That doesn't change my point at all, saying that 7.62x54r doesn't have alot of recoil is not true.

I love mine too! Definitely my favorite gun (well I dunno I love my Enfield's too) What make/year/all that cool stuff is yours?

I bet you love paying for all that .30 carbine ammo too

Not sure of the year, it's made by Plainfield Machine, who made em from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. It's got the upgraded rear sight, heat shield upper handguard and a bayonet lug.

There are a ton of other factors that go into recoil beyond the foot-pounds of pressure produced by the rounds. The 7.62x54r may produce 1-3 ft-lbs. less recoil, the weight and balance of the rifle also play a major factor into the felt recoil. Also the 7.62x54r is a sharper and stiffer recoil than the .30-06, .303, and .308, based on all sorts of things like the burn rate of the propellant, pressure curve, rate of expansion, etc.
Faster the burn rate, sharper the recoil

Nice! Mines a '43 National Postal Meter. Indescribably fun to shoot.
Dunno what buttsex is talking about, but I only pay ~$0.42/round for factory ammo. Sure as hell better than my .303 which runs $0.70 to over $1 per round depending on brand
9x19 has a sharp recoil too but nobody ever complains about that vs the slow recoil of .357 for example

.42 is expensive when you consider that 7.62x39 for example is .20 a round for new production and performs so much better while filling the same role
Apples and oranges. 9x19 is far less powerful than a .357 magnum
The .30-06, .303, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x54r, and .308 are all in the same class
Felt recoil wise I always thought the 7.62x54 was sharp in comparison to say .303 or 30-06. I've only fired .308 out of an M14 socom and an M240, and the recoil of that reminded me of my Marlin 336 in 30-30.
Honestly The biggest kick I ever got was from the barret M107, but it was by no means "sharp". If you watch the video I have on youtube the recoil shoves my shoulder back about half a foot, but what I felt in my shoulder was no worse than some 2 3/4 birdshot.
The "sharpest" kick I ever felt was out of my uncles .300 win mag without a pad. I thought my arm was going to fall off.

7.62x39 is also the most widely produced round in the entire world. Also taking into consideration that I don't shoot my Carbine to win competitions or get ~ultimate performance~ I shoot it because it's a fun and enjoyable historic firearm that I like.
I prefer to compare the cost to .223. Which is about 30 cents a round compared to 33 cents a round for .30 carbine
yeah .300 win mag is a killer for sure
sharpest kick I ever got was out of a ruger #3 spitting out a hot 500 grain .45-70. felt like at least two .30-06s
Reminds me of one time I was shooting my Carbine at the range and it's all *pop*clink*pop*clink*... and then all of a sudden theres a huge thunderous *BOOOOOOOMMM*chk*chk* and everyone at the range stops to look as the guy next to me fires off his .45-70 Marlin Trail Boss. It was almost terrifying

There was a guy a couple months back that brought this incredible Springfield musket. Everyone at the range would literally stop shooting and line up to watch him fire this thing off.
It was so nice.
I wonder if it is legal to make ammo in Washington.
