What make is it? I've only seen Norinco M14's go for that low.
I'm getting a Saiga AK very soon, and I would like to know what needs to be done to convert normal stamped steel 30 round 7.62x39 mags to cooperate with the Saiga?
Also, my dad just sold our Browning 1919 parts kit yesterday and bought a stainless steel/ivory grip Ruger Vaquero in .45 LC and a Ruger MK 3. Yesterday he sold a S&W .38 snub nose double action revolver and bought another Ruger Blackhawk SAA with a .357/9MM cylinder set. Tomorrow he is trading a S&W double action .38 revolver with mother of pearl grips, gold S&W logos, and a Folsom marked police holster (with trigger guard lock to prevent prisoners from taking the officers weapons) for a Saiga 7.62x39 AK type rifle!
huehuehue I'm excited
Forgive me for the possibly stupid question, but I'm really new to AK's but why do some AK style rifles have 3 holes in the handguards (particularly Yugoslavian ones)? Also is the bit on the gas block on some AK's that looks like it's hinged a grenade sight for a grenade launcher?
I'm trying to learn all about the different AK variants.

12ga or a 20ga Pump Action.

First off, they need to get a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) to own a gun, secondly it needs to be stored unloaded and locked up unless they're like 10 hours into the middle of buttfuck nowhere. the RCMP has some information here, but get them to talk to some gun owners and ask, they'll learn a lot about gun ownership, and even more about the politics of gun ownership in Canada.
Secondly, what kind of defence? Bears? If so, 12 Gauge double-barrel at the very least, and keep some slugs handy, bird/buck shot won't do crap to a bear. I'd recommend a cheap pump action, a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500, or if they're just looking for something cheap, any of the shotguns on this page. They have a flat shipping rate from Montreal to almost anywhere in the lower 10.

From what I was told and shown, Yugo AK's have rifle grenade launchers and leaf sights on the gas block for the grenades. They are also a bit thicker.
Yeah, but right now I have less than $20 to my name. I've put my shotgun up for sale, and a friend should be buying my AR soon. But the cash for both will probably be going to a new car. Mine was totalled in May.
post your shotgun, I might buy it. I'm in state!

Pretty much what DaCommie said. But if they have some cash and want a rifle. A big bore bolt gun will put down everything on the continent... I don't live in Canada so I can't give any idea of cost, but CZ big bore rifles are pretty sweet. Also they could grab a sweet lever gun in .45-70, take this with the salt packet issued though as I don't know the prices of ammo and rifle in Canada.
With assuming you shooting it relativley often, does the block start to get comfertable at all? I've put a mag through one my self and it hurt a little haha. And it was only a 9mm, when I usually shoot .45's

No, it is perfectly comfortable. I have zero complaints about the gun, it was easily the best weapon purchase I've made.

The Marlin 1895 lever is $560 at the store I work at, but .45-70 ammo is, at cheapest, $35/20. Compare that to about a buck a shot for a rifled slug ($5/5 if bought in small packs), and about $160 for a cheap shotty, and you can see the distinct benefit of getting a shotty as a cheap bear defence gun.
You can get one through the CMP for around $625. Sure it might not be all numbers matching but it's a Garand.
Actually, it would be the cartouches that match, not the numbers. Trust me, my parents and I did all kinds of research on this when we were looking to get a Garand.
Be very wary of fake cartouches though

huehuehue I'm excited
Every time you post I get a little bit upset because I think that Bean-O came back.
I've been drawing up some ideas for my SR-556 wood.

The foregrip is based on an FG-42/1, and the grip is based on a Thompson, always liked the design of those two, and the birds head shape of the Thompson grip is super comfortable.
Still not sure what I want to do with the shoulder stock, I have a nice curly piece picked out for it but I haven't come up with a good looking design. I want to keep the functionality of the existing stock, while replacing the plastic.
Here's the wood I've picked out for the foregrip (top one), I have a piece for the grip as well which looks nice but it's so dirty the grain doesn't show up on camera well, ignore the smaller piece below, the grain on that isn't quite as nice. If it were on the gun it'd be facing left.
[img_thumb]http://puu.sh/12K2c[/img_thumb]
In addition I'm gonna get a front sling loop and put an M1907 leather sling on it, it'll hardly qualify as a 'black gun' when it all comes together.
Took it and sighted in today too, gonna have some real fun with it on Saturday. Definitely need to get the trigger worked on though, thing has at least a 10 pound pull.
But a 1" group at 100 yards, I couldn't be more pleased with the gun.
if it were my gun I'd just figure out where I liked it and make a fixed A2 style stock at that measurement
RR_Raptor, you are a god of making things.
that or maybe a shortened A2 style stock with an extendable buttplate. I'm thinking at shortest length the rubber pad would be right up against the buffer tube, but if you extend it about 2 inches of wood is attached to the butt and that's attached to the rest of the stock by 3 or 4 metal rods, one is bent upward and presses into the holes in the bottom of the buffer tube and is adjusted by pushing down a pin that goes through the stock and is held in place by the tension of that metal rod and pulling back the stock

That looks pretty good, I've always had a soft spot for wooden AR15s. Got any plans for the stock?
Goddamnit, I really want to do that AK/Dragunov (one or the other) build, but I simply don't have the cash right now.
Anyone know any good moneymaking techniques? :v:
