Those damned kids and their anti-air lasers!
"This is your captain speaking, we're beginning our descent into Sydney airspace and I know that you have a wide choice of airlines to fly with and we're glad you cho-OH JESUS MY EYES I CAN'T SEE WE'RE GOING DOWN" :v:
Yep. Owning a a laser pointer gets you a $10000 fine now. The media really trumped up a few years ago with a "Laser pointers downing aircraft" scare. Fucking retarded
The people who pushed that shit should try aiming a laser at a tree 100 meters away Then imagine doing that on an even smaller target at 10 times the distance I can't imagine hitting a pilot in the eyes with a laser unless it was mounted to a telescope

No one will go down because of the laser, but they will be unable to make any maneuver that requires sight. of course it makes no sense to outlaw them over this. Just like it's retarded to outlaw handcuffs or even more so fingercuffs.
And I thought Canada's laws outlawing brass knuckles, "morning-stars," and blowguns were retarded. It seems like gun/weapon control turns into a contest of who can ban the most things that look evil in movies, but are never used in the real world. [editline]12th September 2012[/editline] Forgot Tasers and pepper spray, those are illegal too. Enjoy not being able to defend yourself ever in any way at all, after you inevitably become a victim there are plenty of "victim support" groups who will campaign to double-ban whatever object was used against you and take your money to try and fund your further victimization by making it even harder to defend yourself.
Guys Hey guys /k/ is doing it again
This one's just for you /k/ The seller said it had been laying outside half buried innawoods for a long ass time. I can't pass up shit like this, don't know why, but I had to buy it. I just picked it up today. My goal is to get this thing in shooting condition using nothing other than a hammer and a pair of pliers by tomorrow night. (I will clean out the bore with a cleaning rod and use some oil but thats beside the point). btw, everything is rusted solid.
The inside of of the cockpit will reflect the laser beam EVERYWHERE. It turns into a fucking disco if someone hits them with a bright enough laser.
Its still pretty damn hard to hit the cockpit.
Because it's totally easy to hit the cockpit of an airplane at 10k+ feet going 500+mph with a lazer pointer. Makes perfect sense.

Did we ever hear from the guy doing the lake AK build?
Did we ever hear from the guy doing the lake AK build?
nope, and I got excited for that one.
Lake? What? It came from a fire.
Nah son, he found it on the bottom of a dredged lake or something.
Had an interview today at an ammunition distributor. They said they'll let me know tomorrow if I get the job. If I do, that means I'll be out of the state 3 weekends a month working gun shows in places like Texas and Missouri.
I highly recommend an M1 Carbine. I absolutely love mine, it's a blast to shoot, fairly inexpensive ammo, and p. accurate to boot. They are a little on the expensive side though, running in the $600 to $1k+ range for a USGI carbine. The commercial variants, made by Plainfield, Universal, and Iver Johnson are a little cheaper at $350 to ~$450, but their quality is kind of hit or miss and they're not quite as well built and reliable as the USGI ones. [editline]11th September 2012[/editline] What name is stamped on the heel of the receiver?
Plainfield. I t had the adjustable sight and bayonet lug, round reciever.
Plainfield. I t had the adjustable sight and bayonet lug, round reciever.
Same as mine :)
Been doing some reloading practice with the AK, and the mag release is HARD AS FUCK. Not only it takes a bit of struggle to push the damn lever, but it also snaps back and bites my thumb every time the magazine comes off. The magazine is all sorts of shitty (the gun store is gong to send me a replacement as soon as it gets there), but I'm still unsure if it's the mag's or the gun's fault. We'll see in a few days...

Also allows the mag to just fall out, instead of you having to arc it out. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XEMAAKMR&groupid=64

If you're having trouble with the mags, the steel AK mags work a lot better than plastic or polymer mags. Steel mags are cheaper, and better IMO.
I have only a steel mag so far, but it was bastardized because it was imported before higher capacity magazines were legalized. I'm going to get some unaltered Polish steel mags in a while, so we'll see. Alternatively I'll try the chechen way and glue a piece of foam or something to the mag release, at least softening the impact on my thumb.

Just de-cosmo'd my first weapon. I hate cosmoline. On the bright side, my Nagant revolver is nice and clean.

However, Aimsurplus doesn't seem to ship out of the US (or at least not without a ton of paperwork). I'll just order some 20€ Polish steel magazines from a dude rather close to me and call it a day.
no no no you're going about this wrong you need to remove your thumb and replace it with hardened steel
Nah, that's a bit complex. Believe me, I tried.
Dear Ridge - Make .303 plz Love -Me
Yes pls make .303, Ridge c: I would love you forever if you could make some with a 174gr fmj flat base bullet, working at ~2550fps
They don't manufacture ammo, unfortunately. Just sell it. Also, unrelated;
Vaun: Oh damn Vaun: Biology. Vaun: Fuck. Ridge: forgot about it? Vaun: Yep. Vaun: ...who then become targets for guns again Vaun: perfect. Vaun: Recession solved.
The newest addition to my collection. Llama Max-1 .45ACP. Got it for $230 at a gun show. Came with a 50 round box of Tula .45ACP included in the price. It shoots really well, and it's got less than 500 rounds down the pipe. The finish on the moving parts isn't even worn off yet. Just minor holster wear on the slide and frontstrap. Quite accurate for a 1911 clone that cost around $300 when it first came out, too.
