Geneva Convention
Everyone says Genera this, Geneva that. It only covers the trewatment of POWs and civillians in war. Also, the Geneva Convention is big, give me a line
Geneva or Hague? IIRC (and as Download mentioned) the Geneva doesn't cover weaponry, whereas the Hague one includes stuff like "hollowpoints are not to be used in war", because unlike all the other types of bullets they are painful and lethal.

Except for the treatement of POWs and civillians, I think the rules of war are silly
It's because hollow points cause unnecessary damage to humans.
What about every other ammunition designed to tumble, yaw and fragment, or other non-hollowpoint rounds that still manage to expand? Some FMJ rounds might cause nastier damage to flesh compared to HP, even.

Expansive Ammunition was banned by the Hague Convention in 1899, unsurprisingly however the British and the United States did not sign the agreement till much later, the British used notorious mark IV ammunition for a time in the Boer war, and funnily enough when cases of it were captured and used by the Boers against them they cried foul and stated that "It is a white man's war and proper conduct prohibits the use of ammunition necessary for stopping desperate savages" Oh and since this is the top of the page here is a picture of AK's
But why do you need Hollow Points when a FMJ does the same shit or worse then?
SOME loads of FMJ do that, and usually get replaced if that effect gets discovered, because HURR DURR KILLING PEOPLE IN A WAR USING BULLET #1 IS WORSE THAN BULLET #2. Truth is, if a rifle bullet pierces your insides, it's still painful and lethal. You're not going to care if it expanded or not, because you're going to be either dead or unconscious. Or worse, feeling your life slipping away in horrible horrible pain. HPs and their expanding shenanigans usually avoid the third option, since the shock they provide is usually enough to stop making you feel things.
We were told that standard 5.56's are useful in that they are more likely to injure an enemy and cause others to come to his aid to be shot or just to bring him away.
What would you rather be hit with in a war?
Poorly loaded Khyber Pass 7,62x39 hoping that it would bounce off my armor vest due to shitty quality.
Silly Czech you can't hide from me
Oh well, it's a family picture. Distant cousins count as relatives too.
from what i have heard, modern bayonets are to leave as they are. they are, again, supposed to pierce - not cut. if it is a combat knife, go ahead, but bayonets are thrust weapons. they're supposed to enter the body and leave it again. if you sharpen it you just cut up more tissue and in addition to getting your gun stuck in the baddie you also risk killing the guy - which according to the geneva convention is fucking horrible. war is bad etc. in ww2, people would get pretty mad if you were discovered having a bayonet with tooths. you'd risk pulling out the intestines of the guy and fuck him up real bad.
Assuming that in my light and quick scan of the preceding 25 comments no one talked more about this. I will continue this discussion by saying most modern "bayonets" are, in fact, not even bayonets. They are designed as fighting knives with big holes and some clampy bits to lock onto a gun. This is because no one in their right mind charges anymore and so fixing a bayonet is generally for ceremonial purposes now.

Can anyone here give advice on how to properly refinish a stock? Shit like stripping the lacquer and making dents and scratches less noticeable?
it was beautiful, wasn't it?
"beautiful" would be an interesting term for it. I was thinking more along the lines of the most horrifying thing I've ever watched. And now I want to arm myself to the fucking teeth :v:
