The thing that bothers me the most about anti-all around firearms is that they mostly have no prior experience or knowledge besides "Guns kill people, so I should blindly shove my opinion into your face."
[editline]22nd March 2012[/editline]
Same with this type of stuff
The thing I dislike with pro firearm people is that they are very assumptious towards people who don't share their love for firearms and figure that there must be something wrong with them because of their different opinions.
Guns are a viable self defence measure and an acceptable hobby. Just don't get too defensive over them.
Nah, we just get pissy over people who don't know anything about firearms yet try to make laws about them.
It's like someone who's never driven a car in his life and not knowing anything about engines, trying to pass laws that require all cars to be pinned to 80mph and banning bodykits and scary-looking spraypaint.

We get defensive over them because anti-gun people have this twisted mentality that everyone with a firearm is a budding sociopath, and that rather than address the core causes of crime or prosecute people committing actual crimes with firearms, they should ban guns and make paper criminals out of firearms owners, and throw the book at them at every feasible opportunity.
I can't recall hearing of firearms owners assuming there's something wrong with someone for not liking guns, but I've heard plenty of the opposite, anti-firearms people assuming that because someone likes guns, there's something wrong with them, and they're often presumptuous assholes about their hatred of firearms. Without being defensive over them, these presumptuous assholes would outright ban them, already in Canada self defence isn't a valid reason to own a gun, and any time you try to act in self defence, no matter with what, you tend to get charged and the cops let the courts figure it out. These people are attempting to destroy several valid sports, and one of the planet's oldest traditions and sports; hunting.
I don't care if people don't want a gun, I care if they don't want anyone to have a gun.
I am having absolutely no luck finding a Mosin Nagant or a Nagant M1895 Revolver in the local gun shops around here.
I hope I have better luck tomorrow. Most of them closed by the time I was able to call around. Should be able to get some more calls in tomorrow around noon.

I don't think I've ever seen it like that. They get defensive against people who don't like firearms and feel that NOBODY should have them.
People have different ideas of fun. I understand that. But I'm not going to say they shouldn't be able to do it simply because it doesn't align with my ideals.
Does anyone know if there are any threads for Knives/Other weapons besides firearms?

Mosin McNuggets are everywhere, and almost every gun shop has them somewhere. The 1895 Revolver, that's a little less common. I heard Cabelas had some for $100, and I think they do orders, just talk to your local FFL about ordering from Cabelas.
Would you happen to know any reputable dealers in central Florida that might carry mosins and nagant revolvers?
I don't know Florida that well so I can't comment.
Big 5 is one store which always seems to have them in good supply. But as I said, I don't know if they have any stores in Florida. I'm much more familiar with Colorado and Virginia myself. :v:
Ugh I have to unlearn just scrolling to the bottom of the forum index when I come in...

I'm trying to find a place that stocks either one or both of them in store so I don't have to pay the FFL fee. There are I think 4-6 stores near me I want to call tomorrow to see if any of them carry what I'm looking for.
CZ-52, $250 dolla

I can't mash the "agree" button hard enough.
I'm getting mine with three magazines for around $350, you lucky bastard.
I'd say yay.

Do it. I've seen them go for a bit more.

Personally (ewitwins please forgive me) I think they're ugly as sin, but it's a solid gun. And let's be honest, 250 is a steal. Yay.

I just like it because in my opinion it looks absolutely space-age :v:

I like it because it's a strong Czech ox of a gun.
Well that too
I'm thinking about getting one of those 9mm conversion kits to make ammo more accessible for mine, and cheaper.

How much for one?
So hey, had a question for you guys.
I'm trying to model a SWEP for the Grizzly Big Boar 50 caliber rifle...
http://www.largrizzly.com/web/guest/bigboar
...and I've had to do some significant research in figuring out how this sucker works, at least as far as knowing I'll need to animate this sucker being reloaded every shot.
It's an obscure weapon, and as such there isn't a wealth of reference material for me to base the moving parts on.
Thankfully, the official site provides a manual, which tells me the indent near the back of it is NOT a shell-ejection panel like I first thought, since the shell apparently is removed by hand.
This gun has a weird way of reloading. It's bolt action, but it's also "breech loaded", with the buttstock removing entirely so the round can be jammed somehow into it, and then replaced and locked in. Finding images of the removed stock is tough, but my main mystery is in figuring out just how the damn bullet is attaching to its slot once the stock is removed. Looking at it, I can't tell if it's merely shoved into a round slot and stays there, or if it's slid in sideways, with the fanned back end of the bullet being used to hold it firmly in place. The latter sounds effective, but I barely know how guns and bullets work. I don't know where the shell ends and the bullet begins, so part of me thinks locking the back of the bullet in would just keep it from moving. Maybe that's the entire reason the back end of bullets have that fanned space, but like I said, I really know very little about these things.
I don't suppose anyone could explain this to me?
Btw, this image is only of a scale model of the Grizzly, but it clearly shows the gist of how it loads, so you can see what I mean.

Hand-held Flamethrower? Yay
Or at least mine is :v:
When the bolt is unlocked and pulled back the entire stock butt goes off. You either put a cartridge onto the bolt face or drop it in. Then you seat the bolt and lock it.
The extractors on the bolt hold the cartridge if you tilt the bolt slightly to the opposite side of the extractors.
[editline]23rd March 2012[/editline]
Let's say my index finger is the extractor(s) and my thumb is the bolt face.

By holding onto the rim (recessed area, on some cartridges it's a small rim that runs on the outside of the casing itself) and supporting the bottom, it doesn't fall off.

Fantastic... :-)
Thank you for the quick, well considered answer! That about puts me where I need to be, especially after reading up a little on what parts of a round constitute the bullet, and which just make up the shell.
Fuck me I'm having no luck. Called 5 stores around me and no one carries Nagant revolvers or Mosin Nagants.
Closest I got is a place that "Sometimes has them and can get them" but he wanted $200 for the Nagant Revolver (wtf) and 150 for the Mosin Nagant, but he couldn't get those.
Almost everyone has the 7.62x54mmR for the Mosin but at around $8 for 20 rounds. I'd be better off buying it from classicfirearms for $80 for 440 rounds.
Because I can buy an M1895 from www.classicarms.co for $100 to $110 and a Mosin-Nagant for $100-$150.
[editline]23rd March 2012[/editline]
Holy tits classic firearms just got in a shipment of Mosin Nagant M91-30's. Round receiver. Apparently they were squirreled away in some obscure Russian warehouse and never cherry picked for quality. Comes with a sling, bayonet, and all the accessories that come with it for $90 fucking dollars.
I am jumping on that shit like a slut jumps on cock holy mother.
^^They are salesmen. I wouldn't buy everything they say.
Also, they have apparently been having trouble actually shipping out what people have been buying from them lately.
I'm naturally sceptical but they have pictures of the rifles still in the crates and everything. It looks pretty legit.

Do a page find for "Check this out" - Will take you right to it.

Also I need to register to see that link mate. Mind pasting a quote?
anyone have 1799.80 dosh for a crate of 20? share with the rest of us!
I'm surprised at how many Mosin-Nagants there actually are. Just think about it. Many people own one, some even owning multiple ones, and there is still a large enough surplus to sell them for $100 a piece.
