SKS?
Are SKS rifles good/accurate? A friend of mine told me they're horribly inaccurate though I'm not sure how correct he is. [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline]
870.
The shotgun? Don't really want a shotgun. Family already has 4 and I've never quite liked them.
10/22?
10/22?
My family as a whole owns 3 .22 rifles. One LR, one Bolt Action, and one Semi Automatic. My father gave me the bolt action one for my 14th birthday. I don't want another .22 I'd like to use something larger than .22 [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline]
If you get a decent (Russian manufactured or similar tier) SKS then it's all good If you buy a pre-70 yugo you'll enter a world of pain.
Care to point me in the direction of a good Russian SKS? The only website I know is classicfirearms.co and they only have Yugoslavian ones. Are Steyr Mannlicher Carbines any good? Specifically M95 and M95/34? Is the ammunition hard to find for them? What about Yugoslavian M24/47
M91/30 [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline] wait no fuck that get a K31
I own a 91-30 already. As far as a K31 goes how does that compare to the Schmidt-Rubin 1911?

What about Yugoslavian M24/47
I have an M95/34 that I got for $80. I like it, it kicks like a beast and erupts flame like a volcano, but it isn't very cheap to shoot. Ammo is hard to come by and usually around $1 a pop. Plus you need the En Bloc clips to fire more than one round at a time. It's great fun though, totally worth the money. The round is fucking huge, larger than 7.62x54r, and it shows. I have to restock on ammo at major gun shows or off Gunbroker whenever it pops up. The guys with all the military surplus stuff will sometimes have clips of it. Also, Yugoslavian SKS's are fine. Russian SKS's are better, but the Yugos are strong as well. They're bulkier than the Russian ones due to the fact that they're meant to launch grenades.
Oh wow a dollar a round? Fuck that. If I wanted to spend a dollar a round I'd get a .50BMG :v:
That's more like $2-3 a round if I'm not mistaken :v: You can sometimes get bulk ammo for cheaper, I think I got 50 rounds for something like .50 to .75 cents a round, but that was at least a year ago. It depends on if it's Nazi ammunition (I wouldn't fire the Nazi ammunition only because I feel bad shooting something that will be very collectable soon) or Austrian ammunition. Hornady also makes ammo for it too I think.
How about we not be a dick because I'm poor mmmkay?
Good lord, such a sexy gun for such an awesome price, Canada right?
Yep, I got mine from SFRC out near Kingston, but they ship. Not sure if they still have any in stock, but they list stock on their site.
I have decided that I really want a PSL. I want a scoped rifle and the PSL, since it looks like a Dragunov, is sexy as fuck. Plus it fires 7.62x54 and I have tons of that. I've heard you can get them as cheap as $500 to $600. Could you guys recommend any places I could get a PSL? And/or what a good price for it would be if not $500-$600?
So you guys say Ak-47's are illegal in Canada? My IRL friend has one and I was just wondering where he got it
So you guys say Ak-47's are illegal in Canada? My IRL friend has one and I was just wondering where he got it
The Maple Syrup Black Market.
it's probably a semi-auto civillian friendly variant, but I don't know how canada treats semi-auto rifles. I know a lot of countries will only let you keep bolt action or lever rifles [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline]
I own a 91-30 already. As far as a K31 goes how does that compare to the Schmidt-Rubin 1911?
I haven't fired a K11 personally but I have shot a K31 and I could keep a good 2 inch group at 150 yards. I've heard stories of people shooting 1 inch groups at 200 yards with factory sights using the K31, and accurate shooting with ironsights up to 1000 yards
So you guys say Ak-47's are illegal in Canada? My IRL friend has one and I was just wondering where he got it
Well, he's either breaking the law something fierce, or he has a class 12.3/12.5 license to own prohibiteds, depending if it's a converted automatic or built semi-auto then banned through OIC. If he's not in at least his '30s, he's breaking the law, or he convinced you his VZ58 is an AK. Or it's a Valmet M78/Hunter/Hunter Auto, which are the only Canada-legal AK variants, and the Valmet Hunter doesn't even look like an AK. [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline]
I own a 91-30 already. As far as a K31 goes how does that compare to the Schmidt-Rubin 1911?
The K31 is an evolution of the K11, and it fires the same rounds. I've seen a video of a dude hitting I think it was 2/6 shots on a foot by foot target at 1000 yards with the K31, the Swiss knew how to make an accurate rifle. What's interesting is you can usually find the name, rank, and sometimes address of the person the gun was issued to under the buttplate.
Wow so I guess that says something about how personal the Swiss armed forced was. Every soldier got their own personal gun :v: What happened if they moved or were promoted or changed their name? Anyway I've decided I'd like to get a PSL Rifle. Do any of you know a good place (in America) to order it from for a reasonable price? (With a scope) The only one I've found is a really ugly modified one that was chromed and looks like a retarded AK-47. I want an original.
midwest hunter's outlet carries them but the website says they're out of stock. I don't know of any place else where you can get them other than local gun shops
Okay so. Two questions then 1) What is their website (I google searched it and only came up with reviews) 2) Why are all of the reviews god awful
http://www.midwesthuntersoutlet.com/ shipping takes forever with these guys, it takes at least a week for your order to process and another week for it to get to your door, but they'llcome through eventually. They are generally the cheapest place around so if you ever do order from them you'll get it for about $20 less than competitors, but it takes a good 2-3 weeks for it to get to your door. all the review sites have much lower reviews than google's review service shows http://www.google.com/products/seller?q=PSL&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-nightly&zmi=midwesthuntersoutlet.com
Wow that's weird I TRIED that url and it came back with an invalid domain error. Strange. I'll check them out but I don't know if saving $20 is worth waiting almost a month. Does it take them that bloody long to ship to an FFL Dealer too? I was extremely happy with Classic Firearms. They got both of my firearms shipped out same day and they were at the dealer 2 days later
their shipping system works like dealextreme, where there are suppliers and they're just the middleman. a lot of people don't realize that and think "in stock" means "we have it right now and will ship it right now" [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline] I've ordered one thing from them before but I'm generally too impatient for that kind of shipping time
Oh so they're not a supplier they're a dealer. I was all set and ready to get an AK-47 from them (Cheapest I've seen them for is $500 they have them for $350ish) then I realized all of their AK-47s are 22LR Replicas. What the fuck [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline] Oh wait no I found 7.62x39mm AK-47s They're more expensive than anywhere else I've seen. Bah
Hey guys I don't usually post but I got something I think you might like. I bought a AG-42b Swedish Ljungman for cheap. But the stock was hacked up and turned into a jb weld/rustoleum Frankenstein. [thumb]http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg365/Ottomann33/ag42/100_0008.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg365/Ottomann33/ag42/100_0011.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg365/Ottomann33/ag42/100_0012.jpg[/thumb] So I found a new stock and am in the process of putting it together. I am currently having trouble getting the barrel bands on so I might have to use a little sand paper so I can slide it on. I also need a magazine. [thumb]http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg365/Ottomann33/ag42/100_0014.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg365/Ottomann33/ag42/100_0017.jpg[/thumb] I get some more pics when its all done.
You're a good person.

Look for AKM or something.
Got today my mental and physical health certificate, and later I'll go to the range and start the paperwork for my gun license. FUCK YEAH.
Honestly gun shows (if you're in the US) are the best places to get guns IMO. I really want a AKS-74 for my next gun. Anyone have any experience with them? I'll take Romanian or Bulgarian variants or whatever

I'll take Romanian or Bulgarian variants or whatever
I used to use the Romanian variant of the 74 a long time ago, I'm guessing the S is for a folding stock. I never seen a Romanian version like that (although I'm sure there is). It had a solid stock and a wooden front grip. Of course of the few I seen quite a few had the front handle sawn off. It fires well and is exactly what you expect from an AK variant. From what I know the Romanians produced them locally in country. Also I do recall foggily that you could take a screw driver to the stock if you wanted.
Just ripped that off google but yeah, S is for folding stock. I know what're you're talking about with those Romanian wooden grips, I imagine they'd be a bit pricey though? And aren't purely Russian made guns hard to get in the US if they were made after 1968 (or was it 1986?) I just want a 74 variant because it's a bit more unique than a AKM and 5.45 is a little cheaper too. I'd even take a AK74M, those polymer modern Russian ones

I'd even take a AK74M, those polymer modern Russian ones
I know next to nothing on US gun laws, only little things like the 1980's ban on automatics (which expired recently?) I think it also depends on the state you live in. However if you do end up finding something you like be sure to way up the price and quality of the weapon, many are surplus or second hand brought over. I can't really give you an estimate on how much they cost as I never payed for one haha.
the 1980's ban on automatics (which expired recently?)
If fucking only.
