Are there guns with nearly no recoil?
.22LR, and recoil is a matter of opinion on many small arms. I've never thought Mosin Nagant's kicked too bad, but some will swear that they kick like mules.
Using a 22lr bolt action rifle to shoot 22 shorts are the lowest recoil you can get.

Had a CZ .22lr bolt action, when I pulled the trigger I felt literally nothing, accurate little gun too. Shame I sold it really.

My mosin left one hell of a bruise on my shoulder but I barely felt it while firing it. v:v:v
I've never gotten a bruise or anything from my Mosin, maybe a little tender but no actual bruising. Now 12 gauge 3.5in shells? Yep I was instantly bruised and my friend didn't shoulder it right so he instantly had a giant bruise at least a foot in diameter.
I bruise easily, unfortunately.
Why would they want it destroyed?
But why destroy it?
I don't even notice recoil from anything smaller than .30-06 if I'm not firing automatic.
Ruger 10/22 or Marlin 795? I just want a cheap plinker, nothing fancy. Also, how much would it cost to get a nice scope and mount for one of those?
I've had my 795 for almost a year now and I love it! If you want a .22lr that shoots great out of the box get the 795. You can usually find them on sale for $125 (comes with one 10 round mag and cable lock). If want lots or aftermarket stuff to make your gun tacticool get the 10/22.
If you decide on the 795, get one with MMXXXXX serial number and avoid the 91XXXXX ones.
Some copypasta from /r/guns
"watch out for malfunctions in the 795. the 795 is one of a few .22's that I have and it has a few problems it is prone to. First is not loading the last round out of the magazine, causing you to dry fire the gun on the last round. The second is either getting stove pipes or double feeds. This usually occurs in the first 500 or so rounds, so if you are past that fret not. But if you ever encounter any of these problems, here is what you do.
1. Dismantle the action down to bare reciever 2.take very very fine sand paper and rem oil, and buff the inside of the receiver opposite the ejection port and on top of the inside of the receiver. You will notice that they spray the black paint all over the inside, your goal is to remove all black paint and polish it up. This will cause the bolt to move sooooooo much nicer, in fact even if you aren't having problems I suggest you do this.
3.If your having feed issues where the last round is being grazed over by the bolt, just leaving scratches by the bolt on top of the last round, Take a screw driver and insert it in between the feed lips of the magazine and pull up ever so slightly. I mean really you barely pull up on it.
4. Load a round into the magazine and notice the round is riding slightly higher than before, but should not be exceedingly loose or high out of the magazine and now you have a AWESOME rifle. These things are dead accurate and a lot of fun!"

When I was shooting a shotgun for the first time my friend (owner of the gun) was all like "okay son now put the whole magazine in there as fast as you can". It was an auto of some sort so I fired about 4-5 shells in about 7 seconds. I didn't hit a thing and got a nice bruise but it was an enlightening experience :v:
I always found it interesting that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout was a principle example of why not to have automatic firearms, yet the two purchased their firearms through the black market, rather than using a legal firearm
Plus it happened over 10 years after the ban on automatics. All this accomplished was the stupid assault weapons ban in California which did jack shit.
Doo eeet!
Pick me up a mauser while your at it :v:

oh you said shoot.
i thought you said buy
I'm getting the barreled .30-06 action for free.
I'll get to shoot Lee Enfields, Krag Jørgensens and some unknown Mausers (Vz 24 and M98?) as a trade if he gets to shoot a box with the Mosin Nagant M44.
[editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
Converted K98kF1s in .30-06 are very cheap here, though. About $170, if I am not mistaken.
Sweet deal dude... I tell ya what though, the second you shoot an Enfield your gonna want one. They have THE smoothest action ever.... it's easy to understand how the British had such a massive empire when you pull that trigger.
Krags are apparently smoother.
Back in my day talking like that would get you burned at the stake.
No luck on the M44 today. The shop had been closed for about 15 minutes by the time I got there. I'm going back on Saturday.
Well an actual AK47 will cost you a few thousand. When I say AK47, I mean Tula or Ivhesk made rifle from those years.
And it's called a Class 3 liscense that I think costs a few hundred and you need a good reason why. I could be wrong though.
You can actually buy an original AK47 under a curio and relic licence. You can own any full auto that is 50+ years old under that licence without a class 3. You can also purchase anything made before 1986 by paying a $200 tax stamp to the ATF. The class3 is really just for gun stores and business reps who try and sell new weapons to law enforcement and military.
krags are fucking sex

not without paying a ton
[editline]5th April 2012[/editline]
3 year C&R license costs $30 and you can buy just about anything over 50 years old that has historical significance

Might want to double check that. I believe that it being a machine gun trumps any other FFL you might have.
Might want to double check that. I believe that it being a machine gun trumps any other FFL you might have.
What the hell are you talking about? 1. It was made before 1986, their for to own ANY automatic made before than you just need the $200 tax stamp to the ATF (no special licence unless required by state). 2. it is over 50 years old thus making it a relic item. There is no need for the $200 tax stamp, just a C&R licence.
Do you even know what an FFL is and what its used for? Anyone can have an FFL IF they are selling weapons of any kind on a business/professional level(private sales excluded). It being a machinegun has nothing to do with owning an FFL. The only automatic weapons that would require you to have a Class 3 FFL are anything made after 1986, and you can only own those with the intent to sell or promote your company.
You can also keep any automatic weapons you purchase as a police officer, so long as you don't attempt to sell it later down the road once you retire/quit.

Yes, if you're willing to shell out well over $16,000
Example: M60E4 $25,000 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=280871020

AK47s fall under C&R.
So an hour ago the registry died for all but Quebec today, and it likely dies for them next Thursday, due to some stupid court injunction. But the good thing is we're one step closer to repealing the disgusting pile of garbage that is the Firearms Act.
What are your favourite cartrides? not based on performance.
mine would be 45/70 govt. something about a slow heavy hitting peice of lead and its fat brass shell turns me on.
Please don't turn this in .45ACP vs 9x19mm argument.

.300 Winchester Magnum. So fun.
And yeah 45/70 is a blast.
Getting back $1000 from my dad... Putting roughly $400 into savings, but I'm planning on looking at some new magazines for my Makarov and grabbing a new gun or two. You guys think I would be able to find a Mauser K98 at a reasonable price? Or should I just go to a gunshow and see if I can find some good deals?
I noticed this thread has the "Politics" tag. Am I missing something here?
