(it's repeated throughout the history of warfare more times than I can count, the strategy and the tactics can be used by anyone at anytime except in a nuclear engagement of coarse). and your proposed invasion is a logistical nightmare and is pointless because you fail to fathom how large the US is and just how much shit you need to move to keep an operation like this going. Were not indestructible but America is too large to be brought down through military means alone, NO ONE not even the US itself can pull something like this off and sustain it.

Let me tell you something though, we're god damn good at it and so as is: No nation on this planet, NO nation, not even NATO forces can come close to threatening the US military. You couldn't with all the world's navies even begin to defeat the US Navy and we have the most defensible country in the world and everyone has firearms. Rule invasion out, it's never happening.

Rule invasion out, it's never happening.[/QUOTE] Agreed. If Wikipedia is to be believed, the US Navy has just as many aircraft carriers in service as the rest of the world combined. That plus a sizable technology gap, excellent training, a rabid insurgency and the sheer logistics of conquering and occupying a country as large as the US means the chances of a successful occupation are pretty much nil. Besides, there isn't much the US has resource-wise that anyone else would desperately need, except (possibly) coal. Even in the global recession, the US is still an economic superpower. If the US were to fall, it could force the entire world into an economic meltdown.

They had to have shitty little one shot pistols be flown in becuase that's all they could get. So imagine the French resistance, but many times more effective. I can see that kind of resistance making an occupation not worth it and forcing the occupational force to pull out.

I once read an article during the spring that stated that the US Navy has such numbers and strenghts that they can at any point on the planet amass enough forces to over come any advesary. So if a fleet of troops where to be sent over by the Atlantic or Pacific, they would be utterly destroyed by our Navy. Unless someone will be wiping out ALL the civilian population, there will be some kind of resistance. They won't topple the military presence, though. And I am pretty sure that no one would just arm their troops with flamers and order them to kill everyone. Even Hitler couldn't do that - he had to use concentration camps.
