He wasn't arguing about that at all.

Because lawyers go out into warfare everyday.
I didn't argue that guerrilla warfare was ineffective, I argued that conventional warfare still existed as the primary means of warfare between countries.

Lawyers who majored in political sciences understand geopolitics.

Geopolitics =/= warfare.
Thread derailed, maybe even successfully trolled, by Lankist.
Yes because whenever Lankist has a dissenting point of view he is trolling.
It's impossible Lankist actually has a dissenting point of view.
No he is faking it for all of you. You are all THAT important to him.
The USA spends more money on military per year then the entire rest of the world combined. It won't happen.
Geopolitics =/= warfare.
Geopolitics is the study of the interactions between individual states' foreign policies.
That includes the broader aspects of warfare.

If the south east rebells against the invaders, and successfully pushes them back, would that finally put an end to the age old statement, "The south shall rise again!" ?
Alright I was sitting in class today and my one of my teachers that teaches military tactics and what not. He gave us a sheet telling us if Occupation of a country is possible in now days terms. Yes it is possible in smaller country that do not have the military assets to defend it's self. but then he said it could be possible for someone to occupy USA (It could happen) But what I am thinking how is that possible now days? Most people in America have weapons or some of defense in someway the public would not sit around and let enemy troops try to take positions. The public (Not all but the ones that do have the balls) would be a moderate fighting force among a nation that allows weapons for the public. I just don't think it is possible (Unless you get nuked or something that kills the public) but now days war terms would be able to fully occupy a Super Power nation. China is a good example as well has they have a very large public so would be Russia.
What are you're thoughts on this?
Russia and China barely have a Navy, are you stupid?
China only has a single sub, and they can't even get near our coast line unless they follow the coast line to Alaska. By then we'd already have a fleet of Marines riding over to fight. F-22s and F-16s would slaughter J-10s and J-7s.
Russia, well tanks are already dead before the first shot. Ripple fire Hellfires anyone? We would basically have immediate air superiority, and it would literally take almost all of Eurasia's forces to even stand a chance of getting close.
In short, it takes the world to destroy the US. Canada has to suddenly start shelling us, Mexico's drug lords have to start firing their fifty cals at us.
Occupation would be basically impossible. The sheer amount of people with guns that know how to use them, the speed that we could recall forces back to the US, and you're suddenly facing the world's biggest, most professional, most skilled, most advanced, and most prepared military bearing down on you.
Speaking of which, managing to occupy the US without having no one left once you've finished "occupying" it, is impossible.
Even if someone had a big enough navy to bypass our defenses and make it on to our land, we have the ability to turn any freeway and highway in to our own military base. The roads could be used to launch aircraft.
They couldn't get anywhere because they'd be completely boxed in before there would be any takeover of land.

I was not aware studying Geopolitics involved studying Guerilla tactics.
Unless your a fucking communist.

Chinese navy.
250,000 personnel
58 submarines
77 principal surface combatants
84 amphibious warfare ships
~387 coastal warfare vessels
~31 mine warfare vessels
~370-480 landing craft
~150 auxiliary/support vessels
What the hell are you talking about?

The PLAN ain't no blue-water navy, but it might change in 10-15 years with their planned carriers.
As of right now, the People's Liberation Army is unable to conduct expeditionary warfare on the scale of that of the US or the Soviets in their Cold War prime.

American Navy:
320,000 personnel
71 submarines
118 principal surface combatants
A bunch of ships, and not to mention the USMC.
In an invasion of the US, the Navy wouldn't be necessary. Air force, Army, National Guard, and Coast Guard, possibly Marines and the Navy, only to chase them back to where they came from.
Yeah, not even a chance. You'd have the Air Force decimate any and all aircraft. Without air support, OpFor would have hell trying to not die when you have CAS pounding away at you constantly, with a complete rout of the enemy once you cut off supplies and you continually pound away at them
The Army and Marines' attack helos would destroy all armor and infantry. Since we have air superiority, we have AWACs, they don't.
That's basically instant victory.
And yes, the PLAN is not even close to a blue water navy. Most all personnel are conscripts, which basically guarantees it's complete crap.
