You can try to borrow someone's deactivated firearm. They are completely legal in the UK without any licence or paperwork needed.
Any BB or air rifles made before a certain date are exempt from the 2 tone colour law too. Other than that, just paint up some toy guns.

edit, blank firing guns aren't illegal, you just need a licence of some sort. Reenactors use them all the time.
Has anyone ever considered painting the tip of a real gun orange?
I'll remember that for when I feel like I need to go on a killing spree.
EDIT: I mean I'll remember for it for when I want to kill trees, please don't send the FBI or whatever.
www.bbguns.co.uk they sell replica guns but you need proof that your using it for acting.
No UK delivery.
Also are Blank firing guns legal in the UK?
No. My school uses them on soprts day.
If you want a realistic BB gun in the UK you need to apply for UKARA registration under the VCR act (Violent Crimes Reduction). It's all pretty simple but it does involve you taking up airsoft for at least a month.

Actually it has to be three months. At least three games in a period of not less than three months.
Common mistake, that one.

If you edit in under a minute it doesn't show
Edit: see?
We were once gonna buy a full scal BB firing, metal replica of a SAW for a student production, that was about £700.00... way over your price tag?
Someone in my history class in sixth form was doing something like this for media studies. They got BB guns or something and went out filming (somewhere in South London, near Croydon I think) and somebody actually called the police. They were arrested by armed response unit while driving back to school.

That's £680 over the budget
www.dealextreme.com
fantastic websites, and they have bb guns.
That website is truely amazing
I got my microphone headset for £8. :smug:
get a real gun, unload it.
License, too.
For my friends media coursework I stood on my garage with an AK-101 (Not real obviously) and pretended to shoot people below, lots of people stared at me through their curtains but no rozzers turned up.
do you have a deadline for the film?
Use cheap-toy store blank shooters. They're actually pretty realistic.
Also, tell me more about this script! I'd love to read it.
In my media coursework were not even allowed toy guns of any sort...
What the fuck is with all the November threads being bumped? I hate to say it, but the higher a person's join date is correlated with the higher number of shit posts/threads they make. I have, however, seen some cool 09'ers and 10'ers.

Yeah, talk about the 08'ers... Jeeze...
Oh-
i know this is pretty old thread, but one good idea is to get those plastic revolvers where you put blank popcaps and they make noise and smoke when you fire them, and paint over the orange part, that way you don't need to add the sound and effects afterwards since revolvers don't eject shells either
There was a law brought in a couple of years ago that bb guns need to be colourful now because kids were buying them all the time.
I know you can get realistic looking Co2 guns but they cost like over £100. I had to do something like this and what I did was went around a load of £1 stores looking for realistic looking toy guns, bought one then sprayed it black then kept the gun largely out of focus when we filmed the thing to make it less obvious
Has anyone ever considered painting the tip of a real gun orange?
Yeah. Took my .22 out with an orange tip in public one time. It works. No one even gives it a second glance.
Yeah, talk about the 08'ers... Jeeze...
Oh-
I know, I think those 08'ers are the worst of all!
Since when did they have the orange all over them!?
I've got two Walther P99 BB guns that are completely black, when was this orange tip shit law passed?
Hmm. As others said, painting them would do the trick. If they're plastic, perhaps you would need some kind of a shiny metallic paint.
It must suck for UK with those laws. Here in Poland for example you can find realistic-looking BB guns with real colors (not even orange tips) about everywhere.
Thank god I live in America where there's no internet censorship and guns for all as long as you can pay!

You have some dumb people around you. If I saw any gun out while in public I'd give it a full blown inspection.

blessing...or a CURSE?!
One time I was having a house party, police showed up and came in without my permission and started to search my house; when they found my BB guns at first the look on their faces was priceless - and after I showed that they were just fake they laughed, picked them up and shot them at each other.
Other times my neighbours thought somehow we'd aquired real rifles and called the police and had a shitload of officers turn up at my house.
Should have had a real one in there.
"Look Bob, it's fake"
BANG
"AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!"
