Seriously? Because that looks like it was done on a wood lathe or with professional gunstock making tools. Not that Im doubting you or anything, but its really hard for me to picture getting the grip area of that thing to look like that without professional tools.
It toot at least seven straight days of hand sanding to get that one area done. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to sanding things round though. I made a replica 1997 Corvette for my Pinewood Derby car back when I was a Boy Scout. Oh yeah, and I did use a Dremel for the slots for the workey bits and insides. That would have been torture. Any more suggestions or are you guys just going to interrogate me more?
I'd name it Susan after your avatar. My sniper rifle's name is Sabella (Meaning "My God is my vow"). The reason I named it that: It reminded me of the sniper from Saving Private Ryan. He'd always say a verse from the Bible before killing.
The question is, how did you go about this. Was it a real steel stock before? That stain? Ninja'd
Elaborate on the stain. Like a dark, post-apoc-ey stain, or a reddish cherry stain, or a AK like orange stain ect.
It will kill your accuracy but if you rifle was acutally held together by tape it'd be pretty cool
Woops didn't see the rest of the thread. My initial idea was Timebomb's :saddowns: Just didn't explain it. Also, the "tape" on the Fallout 3 rifle looks more like some kind of cloth than tape in my opinion. Shit now I really want to make one of those. Would be a good way to kill time and boredom.

The way the bolt is designed looks like a kar98
The way the bolt is designed looks like a kar98
I'm pretty sure they said something about modeling it after an M24. [editline]12:59PM[/editline] Okay, I put on the first coat of dark walnut stain. I have to re-coat in one minute.
The way the bolt is designed looks like a kar98
so do most bolt action guns
D-Boy's / Kalash actually did a really nice job on this gun from what I can tell. After my first match with it it only jammed once, but that was my fault I think. I'm using all stock parts currently and I was using AE .2's during the game (getting a few bags of .23's to try those.) It shot all in the high 390's at the chrono as well. The spread was pretty shite but the BB's still went were you aimed, I blame that on the .2's for now though. I dropped it a few times and actually dragged it down a muddy hill with me, barely even a scuff on the wood or metal. The metal on the receiver and dust cover are pot metal but the rest is good quality steel and the wood seems to be the same stuff furniture is made of. Overall I'd say at $180 I am very happy with my first AEG. Although any suggestions on what to add/do to it to give it more personality? Make it look more rugged somehow?
It needs better wood, bakelite mag (plum) and some wear and tear.
Wtf I have the same exact computer chair.
It needs better wood, bakelite mag (plum) and some wear and tear.
I have the bakelite that came with it but it wobbles and it's made of some crap plastic. The thing scratches slightly but not enough to notice, sadly. How would I go about changing the wood?
Changing the wood parts is easy, you just take off the front end and unscrew the pistol grip. You can get wood kits all over, I found some here but I'm not sure if they are any good. It would be cool if you got real wood from a AK and modified to fit, not sure how difficult it would be though.

Yeah I'm finding it hard to find a decent, well priced woodkit as well. Would it be possible or recommended to stain and polish the wood a different tone?
Yeah, for me i have a store called marshals or something that is a crafting store, inside they sell wood finisher which is just spray on and wipe let it dry.
Yeah, for me i have a store called marshals or something that is a crafting store, inside they sell wood finisher which is just spray on and wipe let it dry.
Oh well damn, I have a marshals like half a mile from here. I might go do that. Have to make sure it won't ruin the wood though, not sure how I'd do that.
Yeah, just restain the wood, it will look better. A dark brown looks good.
Yeah, just restain the wood, it will look better. A dark brown looks good.
Yeah I'm going to run up to the hardware store sometime this week and I'll get some wood stain. I think I'll take pictures and set up a guide of what I'm doing for future reference as well.
Sounds like a good idea.
Why doesnt the foregrip have holes in it?
Why doesnt the foregrip have holes in it?
I remember reading that Russian airsoft guide that some of the AK models didn't have them. No given reason, just not in the design. So I guess it's justifiable, but I'd guess that isn't why Dboys made it like that.
Fuuuuck. Now that I have been playing stalker I really want a Russian/stalker loadout and an AK. [editline]10:41PM[/editline] And because you guys are talking about it.
AK's are sex.
