Vietnam was useless. Early in the war South Vietnam was a dictatorship so the US is kind of hypocritical, spreading democracy by supporting a dictatorship.

Remove outer barrel, clamp it down in a vise. Find the longest screwdrive you can find that will fit through the flash hider and torque it off. There's a shitload of loctite in there.
