They'll tear you in half over here for that sort of thing. I got branded a fool and a danger for firing out of a half dollar piece-sized hole in a fence segment at one tiny field near my house (there wasn't a specific rule [I]against[/I] it there). Every shot typically has to be fired either down your sights of at least pretty close to and looking over or near them, or else you're labeled a blindfirer and eaten alive by super leet operators and Delta Force wannabees.

Blind fire and hip fire are different. Blind fire means you don't know what your shooting at, which is a hazard. Hip firing just means your not using sights.

Hip firing is firing from the hip. I dont usually use my sights, I just shoulder and point the gun and usually know where the BBs will go, I wouldn't call it "hip firing" though.
Hip-firing is awesome for suicidal charges. If your field doesn't allow you to hip-fire you need to find a new field.

True, and I agree with you on this. Around here, though, they're usually lumped into the same category, mostly because firing from the hip can lead BBs to various nasty places which isn't cool when the others are all bigger and l33ter than you. I've tried this before in the back yard, and it was hard to estimate exactly where it was going. It was either too high (read: simulated faceshooting) or too low (crotch hit), which is probably why they don't like it.

This is what most people do, except for people who think they're leet and professional (some of them actually are one or both of those) or for wannabe operator kiddies. I usually just fire repeatedly and, if it isn't on-target already, lead it into the poor hooligan on the other end. Also, I'm experimenting with using my sights while keeping both eyes open, but it usually takes too long, even with a red dot, to acquire the target. A shouldered and estimated shot would easily win instead.

Silly Russian-enthusiastic Canadian, hip-firing is for third world peasants and ragheads. It's not "specifically" banned, but usually strongly discouraged and frequently lumped into the blindfire category. It does encourage a slightly more professional approach to things, helped along by the leet players and operator kiddies (as well as the majority of players here) who all want to be hardcore patriot goodguys regardless of team association.

The M249 has a bazillion times more firepower than an M16, it has more than 6 times the ammo capacity and interchangeable barrels for sustained fire.
hip firing is basically classified as shooting without the weapon shouldered or specifically aiming down the sights, not strictly firing the gun at hip level
