Id say it needs the First Tron, but what it really needs is Moon.
I'm glad Big Trouble in Little China is on there.
I haven't seen many movies. :frown:
Uhm, what? Jurassic Park is pretty much still up to par with today's CGI. In fact, I've seen quite a few recent films (think 07-09) that look almost comically bad compared to some of the stuff in Jurassic park. The only CGI scene in Jurassic Park that I only recently noticed started to look kinda wonky, is the very first scene with the brachiosaur, but the rest is still great and believable.
I thought most of Jurassic park was done with animatronics.
I thought most of Jurassic park was done with animatronics.
It's a mix between the two. Pretty much any up-close shot of a dinosaur is likely to be animatronics, and shots of the animals running, jumping or doing whatever is CGI
I agree with this, but I must say that the action sequences, though far and few, were really well choreographed.
Okay that I can agree with. [img_thumb]http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/8203/moviesk.png[/img_thumb] Yeah I don't watch that many movies.
inside this thread: people who can't appreciate somewhat campy cult classics regardless of whether you think they are good, they are ESSENTIAL TO SEE IN YOUR LIFETIME. no, it just needs inception. both trons and avatar are shit but yes pandorum should not be there
That's hilarious Tron isn't an essential cult classic but this "somewhat" campy piece of shit is? [editline]28th December 2010[/editline] And if this list is essential cult classics, what about The Warriors? [editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
Id say it needs the First Tron, but what it really needs is Moon.
Moon is on there I'm pretty sure. [editline]28th December 2010[/editline] Also just finished Taxi Driver, most positive Scorsese film I have ever seen.
Tron is worth seeing, but it's pretty bad. From Dusk til Dawn, Starship Troopers etc aren't amazing films, but they're better than Tron and infinitely more entertaining. [editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
It's a mix between the two. Pretty much any up-close shot of a dinosaur is likely to be animatronics, and shots of the animals running, jumping or doing whatever is CGI
This is how the newer Star Wars movies should have done it, but instead they exclusively used the awful looking CG that made the films look like cartoons.
To be honest, I checked off a lot of movies I've seen probably only 75% of. All the rest are less than that.
This is what I have left. I tried watching some of them and just couldn't get through them, like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, so it shall remain on this list forever. [img_thumb]http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9049/whatsleft.jpg[/img_thumb]
Watch Black Hawk Down.. NOW
Woah, only one guy saw The man from Earth (ManningQB18). It is an awesome film, go watch it now.
Can someone recommend what I should watch next based on my list in the OP? I really want to see a non-scifi movie today.
Primer was confusing as fuck.
Movies I've seen in green. Movies I'd recommend have a yellow dot. [IMG_thumb]http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b123/Anubis578/MustSeeMovies.jpg[/IMG_thumb] In response to other comments: Pandorum - Entertaining Sci-Fi Space Horror Sphere - Entertaining Sci-Fi Space Thriller Event Horizon - Entertaining Sci-Fi Space Horror/Thriller Starship Trooper - Entertaining Sci-Fi Space Action I would recommend all four of those movies.
Crash was great Also, where is Fear & Loathing?
OP updated with another list. Tell me what you think.
I'm a little ashamed. There are a few this list is missing however. Off the top of my head, Million Dollar Baby, Reservoir Dogs, and Chinatown (Two Jakes is arguable).
Well this is my version of the new list: I noticed in the horror section that Paranormal Activity is labeled "The Blair Witch Project" Is this a mistake or a joke?
The second list is 12 times better IMO [editline]28th December 2010[/editline] actually it's not my opinion it is a fact.

pandorum? That movie was horrible.
Okay, went for it! I still have a lot left to watch. It's missing a whole lot other good films too. I am a big fan of horror/animated films! Also science fiction. I just love love certain films.
new list (which is infinitely better)
Watch Black Hawk Down.. NOW
Crossing off Sphere as I'm posting this. I'll get on Blackhawk eventually. There are a few movies that have priority, such as Unforgiven.
Tsk Tsk The Good, the Bad and the Ugly wasn't on the original list. The new list has it right though. :colbert: Gonna check out a few western movies on the new list I've been dying for one lately.
The prestige, Dark Knight and Hot fuzz were great movies, but they aren't on the new list. Don't know why they would be removed.
they're not? shit, add them back asap.
List is lacking a war movies section.
they're not? shit, add them back asap.
Seems alot has been removed - Hot fuzz, shaun of the dead, jurassic park, The dark knight, the prestige, Predator, montry python and lots of others. I haven't even heard of half of the movies they added.
