Ashes and Diamonds finally gets some recognition fuck yes.
Holy shit you need to watch more movies
Says the guy that needs to watch more movies :v:
Says the guy that needs to watch more movies :v:
I do, but at least I've seen things like Star Wars (even though I've only seen each one once and should rewatch them.)
Lol Commando. A film fill of so many bad puns I actually liked it.
Another great one that should be seen is the 1934 version of The Count of Monte Cristo.
Gonna be honest here, Predator and Robocop are only on there because they're everywhere in stuff like Family Guy where they mention it; not quality movies (i guess you could call them cool though)
Predator is a fucking masterpiece.
What the hell is Pandorum doing on there? There are a lot on there that I've been meaning to watch (mostly the Guy Ritchie ones) and a bunch that I started.
I need to see the Abyss, but I'm not interested in half of the movies on that list
I'm amazed at how many people have not seen The Three Amigos.
Im watching Clockwork Orange now and I have no idea what's going on. He keeps talking about Devil trumpets and yorbles
The longest day.
Also Fargo was surprisingly funny.
Just looking at Animation it's mostly just Disney/Pixar/Japanese stuff, no Persepolis or Triplettes de Belleville, I am disappointed. Amores Perros is also absent, there are too few foreign films in there. I would hardly call Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain "essential" either. v:v:v [editline]30th December 2010[/editline] Seems to be more of a "classics" list than an "essentials"/best movies list. Bicycle Thieves is a classic, but as someone who just watched it in the past year it's hardly worth seeing today if you're not studying the history of film-making. Also, everybody keeps saying that The Fellowship of the Ring isn't that good, so I'd probably take that off. I only watched a part of it, though.
I'm sorely disappointed in the lack of animated films in the first list and the picks in the second one. It seems like they threw in a bunch of Studio Ghibli, Pixar, Disney, and a few other films and gave up. And not one mention of a Don Bluth film. Either Land Before Time or Secret of Nimh should be on there. By the way your suggestions are great. Would you mind giving me more?
Guys stop ragging on movies you don't think belong there If someone actually would take to time to want to see all of these movies at one point, odds are they would care enough about films to acknowledge the fact that though you didn't like the movie, it was culturally significant. For instance, I couldn't stand the movie Risky Business but it would make sense for it to be there because it is so frequently referenced in modern society. And everyone has an opinion. This is the internet so I don't expect anything, but it'd be pretty cool of you did. Also, put Gummo on there. That film was phenomenal* *Fucked up
Except some of those movies are just plain mediocre and have no significance whatsoever

Most are American and Japanese movies and I think that the fact is other countries should be represented. I think the only one that doesn't belong is Mulan. I wouldn't really remove any of them I just think the list needs to be more diverse and/or expanded. Though yes that is just my opinion because I'm not a film critic.
