Islam is against democracy, all religions seem silly to me but islam is the only religion to my knowledge that directly commands its followers to kill anyone opposing their religion. Yes Christianity has been wrong but it wasn't the religion it was the Pope. The bible doesn't tell you to kill non believers maybe try to convert them lol. Im atheist too btw so I not biased to any religion

Deuteronomy:
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshiped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and inquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

Jihad
In Arabic, the word jihād is a noun meaning "struggle." Jihad appears frequently in the Qur'an and common usage as the idiomatic expression "striving in the way of Allah (al-jihad fi sabil Allah)".
Any other source?
However, scholars of islamic studies often stress that both words ["Holy war" & "Jihad"] are not synonymous.

Jihad means "personal struggle"
Gargal0uth!
I live in the netherlands, together with many muslims. They are everywhere, and there are also mosques at many places. I've been to the mosques and sometimes the imam is talking and explaining stuff. I've got a couple of chances to talk to the imam and asked him questions. The imam was a Turk and some of you probably know that there are (mostly) Kurdish terrorist organizations in Turkey (PKK for example). But Kurds also live in the netherlands (not very much though) and the relations between turks and kurds are often pretty bad.
And I asked him what he thought of Kurds in general. He explained me a whole story on what Kurds have done in the past and it was going to the "kurds are bad" direction, but he ended with something like 'but in the end they are not all bad and there is no reason to hate on every one of them'.
And I went to a couple of "classes" in the mosque where they teach children the quran and other things about Islam. And lots of questions get asked there. Most of them are "is it forbidden to do x" and often about Jews. Whenever it's about people like Jews, he always tells them to not generalise, hate and certainly not kill them.
As you can see, those are the 'modern muslims'. Those 'modern muslims' are often mad to see terrorist attacks on the television. They are often the women that do not wear anything on their head and still believe in the islam. Most muslims are modern now, except many in the middle east with an exception to Turkey. In Turkey, most schools even have rules that forbid you to wear any kind of veil, doesn't matter whether it's because of your religion or because it looks good.
Turkey (as in 'the inhabitants') is(/are) pretty tolerant to non-muslims, especially in the major cities.

Yeah but each Muslim has his own Jihad, his own personal struggle, his own "Mein Kampf".
