I mean what makes you think he would push for more? Did he at any point introduce a bill to regulate banks better?
You know what's regulating banks now? The Federal Reserve. Banks have the freedom to go for all of their subprime mortgages, knowing the Federal Reserve will just bail them out.
Right and I'm saying we should make the Federal Reserve publicly accountable, make them an actual part of the Federal Government.
This seems sensible to me. However, there's the matter of actual accountability. The Fed is, for the most part, a part of the bureaucracy. That's problematic, because how does someone pin accountability to something as liquid and transparent as the bureaucracy? The issue is much deeper than being able to pin accountability to the Fed.

Well the Federal Reserve Board is just one regulatory agency among several, including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Thrift Supervision. The Federal Reserve Board in particular is not publicly accountable, but it should be made to be.

lmao this is as far from an answer to the question you could have gotten while still maintaining the appearance of being relevant

I'm saying if they do become an actual part of the government, then they at least have an obligation to be publicly accountable, compared to now where is no such obligation.
Right and I'm saying we should make the Federal Reserve publicly accountable, make them an actual part of the Federal Government.
Because the federal government is SO publicly accountable.
After all, that's how the NDAA, PATRIOT Act, Defense of Marriage Act, and several others were defeated, right?
so pretty much scooby what you're saying is that we should get rid of it instead of fixing it, and remove monetary policy as a tool altogether.
You know what's regulating banks now? The Federal Reserve. Banks have the freedom to go for all of their subprime mortgages, knowing the Federal Reserve will just bail them out.
and those loans wouldn't even happened in the first place if there was anything there to regulate the banks' actions.

I'm not saying it. Ron Paul is saying it.
And I'm advocating Ron Paul.
Because Ron Paul advocates exposing that politics is a game of money and who can get views.
I'm saying if they do become an actual part of the government, then they at least have an obligation to be publicly accountable, compared to now where is no such obligation.
I'm all for merging the Fed into government, but the right amount of regulations would have to be put into place. I suppose I'm just afraid of seeing regulatory capture occur again, though. It's a good idea, though.
lol oh my god do you paullites just have a master list of talking points or something
"Oh no we can't defend Paul's views on X or Y or Z, QUICKLY TALK ABOUT LEGALIZING WEED AND THE BEING AGAINST THE NDAA!"
I have seen this happen over and over again.
"Oh no we can't defend Paul's views on X or Y or Z, QUICKLY TALK ABOUT HOW ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES ARE JUST FACES FOR WALL STREET!"

Transitively, you're saying it. It's similar to preaching religion, I guess.

Government chooses to gain power.
You choose to not have an opinion.
How counter-fucking-productive IS THAT?!

And Ron Paul isn't preaching religion on the media!
Because he knows that's NOT A REAL ISSUE.

what the fuck
@horse_ebooks makes more sense than you
Ron Paul. The only policies he has that I don't completely agree with don't affect me directly anyway so it's kind of hard to say anyone else should get it.
what the fuck

can you quote me any fucking faster before i can edit my typo out. really?
lol as if your post makes any more sense now
lol as if your post makes any more sense now
I'm going to message you soon.
It's going to be when republican primaries start coming in, and everyone realizes that Ron Paul is everywhere. Media put GOP dickholes in the game to fund the game!

Defacing all RP supporters because some give talking points isn't the right way to go about things. Honestly, there are some really intelligent people who support Paul.

The Government gains as much power as it already had (we were indefinitely detaining people way before the NDAA, folks).
I am mildly against it but I prefer it to a short objectivist Texan maniac as my President.

You are right, but right now all I see is Scoooby and he is clouding my judgement.
Some people do make good points about Paul and his views.
Few of them are here.

i have yet to see an actually intelligent person who supports ron paul anymore
Thank god.

Ad hominem is a surefire way to win every argument you encounter. Meh.
I felt like I was talking to myself in the past.
If I could teach myself anything in the past it would be that EDUCATION is the only solution to the mess we have.
Somebody please help educate facepunch in my openly ron paul advocating thread. Where we will discuss who really is in control. And what we CAN DO, to CHANGE THAT.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1156117
Most of us are being ad hominem here, you don't need to point it out every time. Most of us are too lazy to put the time into making a long, fullproof, and perfectly reasoned and sourced argument.
Ad hominem is a surefire way to win every argument you encounter. Meh.
you use that phrase but it actually doesn't mean what you think it means
I felt like I was talking to myself in the past.

So you could have educated yourself better?
So you could have educated yourself better?
Could you do any more in preventing the restoration of america?
What this is telling me is that PSUEDO-INTELLECTUALISTS are the issue now.
you use that phrase but it actually doesn't mean what you think it means
Delineating an argument with even more ad hominem attacks is counter-intuitive. If you want to take the meaning of argumentum ad hominem up with me, just PM me.
Anyway, back to the actual discussion.
