idk learn2eq or somethin'
I mean the tutorials themselves are shit
The end result is always really shitty sounding
The best thing I've come up with is just using Chords of Life, but that's lame
Hmm. There's particular synths that have lots of housey presets. I'd find your ideal sound this way if the tutorial thing's just not working.
I bought drums (real drums) yesterday because now i am in a band
the kit is
Pearl Trumset Forum FZ705/C21 Smokey Chrome
it looks like this

it costed me roughly €600 and i think it sounds really great, the only thing i dont really like is the sound of crash but ride sounds beatiful and hihat sounds really nice when open but a bit bad when closed.

Although I've been working on an ambient album for the past few months, I'm going to release a small free ep of weird lo-fi tracks I've made but will never use on a guy's site. I'm considering using this as the album cover, should I or is it too dark/disturbing? I typically only use my own art but this release is unimportant and for fun to say the least.
Mildly nsfw, but more creepy than nsfw: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/40/Snyder_chair.jpg

If it fits the feel of the album, I say go for it! Also make sure you have permission to use the image. If you need any help with the art, give me a holler. I like to make weird stuff.
I've had lately an artists block or something. I'm just not feeling it and can't get anything done :(

When this happens I watch an inspirational movie (like Mr. Nobody, 2001: A Space Odyssey or my favorite, Stalker) or an anime series (like Cowboy Bebop or Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood).
Usually helps me.

when that happens to me, i find some brilliant new music that really inspires me and it seems to give me quite a bit of direction
That, or watch some movies, read some books/comics. Inspiration can be found anywhere.

So I've been using FL Studio 9 Producer edition. But lately everytime I tried to record my voice or make something the program glitches and does like a jump skip making impossible to record something correctly. I'm thinking about reinstalling does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it ? Didn't use to do it before so I'm wondering what the fuck is going on ! someone please halp! :smith:
Why are you using fl 9 anyway? Moving from fl studio 9 to 10 was the best decision I've done in a while, and that was almost a year ago.
http://soundcloud.com/luffymusics/luffy-tomorrow new preview of a track im finishing up. if you favourite it ill make you a romantic dinner for two
i suck at fl studio and making music in general
i've been trying for years but i have no clue in what direction to go to learn
people just seem to pick their skill up out of nowhere
and music theory and mastering/mixing seem impossible to learn unless you already have some sort of knowledge of them

I did that shit for a year until I had ANYTHING. And I don't mean I did a song every now and then, I was doing that shit every day.
It takes a long time, just gotta read up on stuff. I always hated how everyone seemed to be automatically better than me, but just practice man.

Mess around with it, go in every direction possible until you find the one for you. And there's plenty of free tutorials around the 'net on both music theory and mixing.

A bag of murray mints will do fine for me

ive been making music for soon to be 2 years, and im only just finding my style. it varies upon how much time you spend in your daw, and how committed you are to making everything from scratch, but in the end you'll find everything you want in music if you put the time in :)

a candlelit bag of murray mints?
Did sound for a children's charity fundraiser.
I only turned up (With my whole rig) to do the sound for one band and a solo artist but stuck around and did the whole event for them (Playing children's CDs and such - They were going to do it through a pisspoor system). Got paid my expenses, very cool, great experience and it felt good helping out.
It was a great for networking too, many a business card was handed out.

Damn, I've been at it for three years.. Well, I guess some people learn faster.
I'm just wondering when you hit big because your stuff is incredible
Does anyone here use Reason 6? I use Reason 5 and I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading.
Yes I am, I was previously using record though because I wanted to record guitar/singing etc. I went to reson to get the whole thing of easy decent recording as well as a load of midi instruments and synths and effects. I like the way it simulates all the rack devices so you can quite easily figure out what you're doing.
Other than recording audio I think the main advantages it also has are the echo (a decent tape echo effect which is way better than straight digital delay) and the neptune pitch adjuster thing for recorded vocals: you can do all sorts with it, it's quite handy for transposing random vocal samples to fit with your song if you so wish. Hope thats useful info :)
