The drummer in one of the bands I play in is moving house and found this little gem and gave it to me: A JHS SD1 Analogue drum synth pad. Late 70s. Made in Japan. Just needs some attention, batteries leaked all inside and it has no means of external power so I'm going to re-foam the top, clean the board down and install an external power socket. Neat.
I has a question reguarding heavily modulated basses (neurostep for me.. I guess dubstep appplies) How can you go about getting a more natural feel? I'm fine with making the bass and robotic/heavy sounds are easy, but how do you get a more natural human sound? It's hard to describe.. Like a sort of smooth bass. An example being at 2.09 here: Is it more to do with the filtering, or the use of the modulation, or what? It sounds rather chorus-ey but I've always found applying a chorus destroys the low end of the bass a little.
modulation like you've never seen before
absolutely dreadful.
But, but dat 7/4
But, but dat 7/4
just because it's 7/4 doesnt mean its in any way complicated or sophisticated
I didn't suggest it was; it does make for a more interesting track though. I'd rather listen to that than Producer #4087 with their latest xxxtreme filthy dubstep track, it all gets rather dull after a while

If you want to listen to what I think is interesting music then you can go to this thread I think you will enjoy. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1160784
There are loads of interesting tracks in 4/4 man.
You totally don't understand what I'm saying. Tracks need something interesting or different in order to be most enjoyable. The interesting/unusual thing about that track is that it's written in 7/4. Obviously there are ways songs can be interesting, and at no point did I say otherwise.
I made a cigar box guitar yesterday. [t]http://i.imgur.com/5Fmq5.jpg[/t] I just need to cut a few pieces for the bridge and the nut and it'll be all done.
Im just curious have I done some wrong because first thread I make get response but now second thread where I have more music I think is better I get no response so I was thinking if I was maybe doing something wrong as user of facepunch forum? I also have three songs I think fit together perfectly and I want to make album on internet with this music but I dont know how can I do that?

Sometimes you just don't get any response. Nothing to worry about.
okay so like my birthday is coming up right and i want to get some more production gear and shit, and i'm not sure if i should maybe invest in studio monitors, or some other piece of equipment, i already have the akai mpk25, which is an awesome midi controller, so i dont know what i need maybe i dont need anything, but i just think it would be neat to have another toy to play with
Nah. Sometimes you just don't get any response. Nothing to worry about.
Oh ok yeah that makes sense

Ok so I need help I have a few songs I wish to release as CD on internet, I saw bandcamp being used for facepunch album so I was thinking I could do the same and also other people use it, but I need help with the songs I have made so far, mostly in how song is sounding and less in how it is played. So first song is going to be this one, A Life Of War I think it is a good song to start off with since it has drive and speed which will settle of album nicely Second song is going to be this one, F is for F- YOU Is not as fast but continues on hard riffing of first song and more structured I think! Third song is going to be this one, Chasing Ghosts Sort of like mix of first and second with hard and fast drumming and riffing that is I think pretty cool but also more simple and pop. Fourth song I think is going to be Annihilation (New song!) This I looked up sounds and also made slower drumming sort of like almost saying goodbye so album will be less than 10 minutes which I think is EP size but in future I was hoping maybe singing in songs too and more pop or rock like Andrew W.K, I would be really, really glad if anyone could take their time to listen through songs (or just short snippets, first 30 seconds of every song) and write what they think of arrangement of instruments and also tone of guitar and things about how it sounds I try and learn mixing but it is hard so any help is really welcomed.
Why is Fruity loops not letting me change the pitch of my audio clips, what is resampling and why is it necessary? Edit: Nvm, trim stopped pitch shifting for some reason. Editedit: Why can't you automate the time stretching pitch knob? There's no way to change just the pitch and not the speed? OH FRUITY GRANULIZER!!!
the last track of my ep that should be seeing a release around march/april is now up in the form of a 2 and a half minute preview (the songs only like 4 minutes 22 though there is a nice twist at the end youll have to look out for when it gets released and put up in full on my youtube channel thing) but it is feeling a little lonely with no comments or anything, so yeah. after this is released ill be taking a big break from music in general to get alot of work done and sort out a bunch of things in the world of reality so that's the end of that for a while i guess. thanks everyone for your help up until this point!

What I say is I dont think this is song to end album unless you want to make sound like it will start over again or something like that  Why take break from music are you not happy anymore with it or is it just lack of comments that make sadness for musicmaking because I want to hear more of this music you make! [editline]10th February 2012[/editline] I also found site called tindeck that you can upload music too and it doesnt change songs like other soundcloud does which is weird why do soundcloud change volume and other things but tindeck doesnt?
I made this, a mix of classical music and chillwave. What do you guys think?
probably because you arent making dubstep [editline]11th February 2012[/editline] or house
Oh ok that is a shame, are there other forums where I can find people who make rock n roll who will enjoy and give feedback on songs I make? [editline]11th February 2012[/editline]
i still love making music, and that song is the beginning of the ep, but its the last track i made so whoops lol. im taking a break from all the long processes that are about, like promotion and labels and all those things cause its a real chore getting your music out there; id rather make music for myself and my friends than for others at the moment and soundcloud compresses all audio to prevent piracy
Oh ok it is a great song for first song then  If you do not mind me asking how much do you make as musician? Is it possible to have soundcloud remove compression somehow like ask them to change to not compressed audio because I honestly do not care if people pirate my music I would like it since if people enjoy my music it makes me happy and hopefully them too

You are also true in putting it up for download some people have downloaded songs but I put them down because I keep making small changes so I figure bandcamp site is best place for finished songs and I have actually put together a small album or well EP I think it is called when only few songs on smaller timescale. I think making thread for album release is bad idea so I will instead link album here, but maybe I could make album in general discussion like collaborative albums? Here is link anyway http://caseykay.bandcamp.com/ I think by putting price on songs I show I think music is good enough for people to pay for and make more people interested and also support me as musician
nope [editline]12th February 2012[/editline] swedish people are cool tho
I have now made money off music, one buyer who made payment of $15!
I have now made money off music, one buyer who made payment of $15!
Bitch please I made 3€ once!
Bitch please I made 3€ once!
Oh nice! Also I looked through your songs and I noticed many midi songs and also current songs I think you have said it is all midi but in program, and I was thinking that maybe I could get song from you and record with real instruments?

All of my songs are computer generated and I have tabs for all instruments of all my songs. Just name which one you like the most and I'll either get you the .gp file or text tabs.
