I see some quiet areas... you need more loudness!

I need more ideas for generative melodies. I've already tried using a clock to generate melodies.
Can anybody recommend me a decent sampler or at least point me in the right direction? Something with nice filtering capabilities and that sort of thing I guess, though I suppose maybe it's hard to find a sampler without those features these days. Knobs and/or sliders preferable.

would you prefer a hardware sampler over a software one + midi controller?
@Bytecry, either your sound files got corrupted, or the FL engine doesn't always recognize them as it should. Uninstall FL, then use CCleaner to fix the registry. It should remove everything from the registry that has to do with FL. Then clean re-install.
Fuck Yes!
I got it working. I rewired it through Ableton, held down escape for a minute before it closed but Ableton was still playing the track so I went through the rewire and it was there, just playing normally, I deleted the bassdrum and now it's back. Tempo's a bit fucked though.

Yes, however if you can show me a software one with midi input that would also be SWEET

FL Studio has some pretty decent default samplers. Directwave and Fruity Granulizer have yielded me some pretty interesting sounds.
I have an idea for an electronic instrument that uses tape playback for sound production, basically a monophonic mellotron with vibrato (not tremolo) and portamento.
Planning on ordering some parts tomorrow.
Are there any reasonable inexpensive condenser mics that are any good? I'm tired of recording songs with my phone, though the quality is surprisingly decent for a phone. I also found a condenser mic that attaches to your phone, and it's only $100. Would that be decent for home practice purposes?
Large or Small Diaphragm? XLR connected? What are you looking to record?
I've been pleasantly surprised by the Behringer C2 Stereo set (They work great in an X/Y arrangement on the included T bar). Two mics for £40.
I usually don't buy Behringer gear but I impulse-bought them one day and I've found myself using them more and more for acoustic guitar even when I have some brand names mics, they can get a little "brittle" in the high end though.
The drums in this instrumental used them as overheads
Of course you'd need some sort of interface to connect them to.
I don't really know the range of products available for USB connected condenser mics so I can't really comment on them.
Wrote this short thing because I've been completely drained recently, so haven't put out a complete song in a while

I...have no idea. We're mostly looking to record our practice sessions, but it gets quite loud in there. I don't know much about microphones, so you'll probably have to dumb it way down for me.

condensor would probably not be ALL that good for a big band practice session but I could be wrong
Depends on the specs of the mic, really. I've recorded some pretty high SPL live gigs with a pair of condensers for "Room" Mics. You just need to have a pad handy because they can chuck out a pretty hot signal in those situations.
For the situation above of wanting to record rehearsals, It might be worth looking into a field recorder. Such as the Tascam DR-40 or Zoom H4N or if you have iphone/ipod Touch or iPad, The Tascam iM2. I've not owned them but I've used one (DR-05? I think) for gathering sound effects, I'm sure you would be able to find some clips of them being used to record gigs and rehearsals and other loud things?
Wasn't there a thread where people posted their music gear? Or am I going crazy.
There was. it died.
i'm having a hard time deciding whether the toms are way too loud and powerful or just really cool at 0:22

Pretty awesome. Drums are generally awesome but the guitars are way too weak sounding.
Has anyone got into the next soundcloud beta? I got in by following ninjatune :v:. It's pretty cool with some nice features. You can repost songs by other people so your followers see them in your stream, it shows suggestions of who to follow and songs that are related to the one you're listening to (it's pretty weird at the moment because I don't know if it shows them by related tags or artists or what). It also looks a lot more slick. http://next.soundcloud.com/
I like it.

You can apparently listen to a song without being on the songs page, this is something I think is really cool, I can just surf on soundcloud and listen to one song until I find a new one to listen to, earlier I had to keep a tab open for each song.
hopefully this means i won't have to listen to things in 128kbps
hopefully this means i won't have to listen to things in 128kbps
I don't know about that yet (at least I didn't find anything related to it in the FAQ), but damn it looks pretty, a bit oversized maybe, but pretty

Posting this here too just in case..
I'm starting a show on a student radio station. Gonna make a couple of jingles, but I don't have my mic at uni.
Could someone make a couple of recordings of them saying "Music For You, on surge" or something similar, I'd really appreciate it!

Didn't they revamp the comments on the waveform? The current one is a bit annoying, especially with tracks containing a clusterfuck of comments, and I'm always forcing myself to turn comments off just to jump around a song

Pretty much all VSTs are.
