Spread the love - change time signatures a lot during a piece.
Hello musicians. Quick suggestions.
I have a art project where I needed to make an album cover for a band. I came up with a name and the picture but I can't come up with a good album name.

Genre? IDK, you think about that one.
hey guys, looking to get started on learning to play guitar
from what i've found online, people seem to love epiphone and yamaha for beginner guitars, and this particular yamaha one has tons of raving reviews, but i'm wondering if you find the red sunburst design to be too flashy:

i'll have to stop by a guitar center or something because i honestly don't know what i'm really after in terms of a guitar other than one that plays great, will take years of playing well, and looks great without being flashy

don
Get an epiphone, they're overall of great quality, and just by getting new guitar mics you can make it sing as if it was a real gibson.
Bought me some new pies today.

Meinl Benny Greb vintage 22" sand ride and 14" sand hats. Got them at a 50% discount.
Any pianists care to help me choose a piano?
My budget would be around 500-600 euros. I'd buy Roland FP-4 if I had the money.
With piano i mean like, keyboards, one with good feel with the keys, not those synthetizer plastic-craps.
I've heard I can't get a good one with under 1000 euros, is this true?

It depends on who judges 'good.' An electric keyboard will never have the same touch and responsiveness as a real piano (especially a grand), but it can come close.
The really nice keyboards (such as the Kawai MP10) will run you a few thousand. The best you can get for under a thousand is, in my opinion, the Yamaha DGX-640, but I'm sure you can find some Kawai and Roland keyboards of similar quality.
Anyone know how to get this sort of sound?
https://soundcloud.com/bloodgroove-kikis/claes-rosen-starlight-blood
Comes at around 1:40. Sounds like a rhodes piano to me with filters but I don't know what filters.

Media tags aren't working.

which effects are you referring to? the panning effect?
sounds like a rhodes piano with reverb and boosted mid, with extra pan
Anyone know how artists like venetian snares/Aphex twin/Squarepushers get those time bending effects on their beats? I have yet to find out how..

It'd help if you gave an example, just saying "time bending effects on their beats" is very broad

VSnares uses Renoise. He uses it like a super powerful FX sequencer.

Cool. It's a tracker/sequencer. never heard of it before

what does everyone think about MPC vs Maschine for making hip hop beats
i was thinking of getting an MPC2000XL but after a bit of research i've settled on the Maschine because it seems to have everything the MPC has (sans being an independent instrument and being able to sample analog sources directly) in a more convenient and efficient package. i'm planning on nabbing a MK2 near christmas but i'm wondering if anyone has any opinion on MPC vs Maschine for home production

I'm no pro here, but in actual fact you could easily make a great hit without any gear at all, not just in hip hop, but in any electronic musical genre (more so for acoustic genres too, with the uprising of Native instruments' + others' VST plugins with orchestral/acoustic sounds being introduced)
well yeah i know, you could do everything with a mouse and keyboard if you really wanted to but i like using hardware so

i mean especially if you're trying to lay down natural sounding drum tracks, having some velocity sensitive pads is very helpful

I got a Maschine Mk1. It's got a super nifty workflow for hip hop and I pretty much get dope drums in it with a lot less effort. It's just that mixing and arrangement becomes much more of a chore when you use Maschine and it's very hard to move past a rough 4 bar loop. And Dead Madman is right, you can make some incredibly awesome music with pretty much anything if you're good.
The thing is, it's the most fun I've had with making music since I first started. It's really a lot more intuitive than clicking around and doing drums is about 4 million times more fun than clicking them in.
Only problem comes down to the fact that you will probably need an audio interface for minimising latency and recording good audio. And if you add that to the 600 dollar cost it's gonna set you back a pretty crazy amount of money, you could buy a really decent pair of monitors and an interface and if you don't already have monitors and an interface it's pretty hard to recommend the Maschine over them, especially if you already have a DAW like Ableton Live or FL Studio or something..

i already have the audio interface covered, i just rip vinyl from my turntable/mixer using an RCA to Line-In setup and it works fine. i also have an mpd26 but i'd like a maschine just so i can do most of my work in hardware rather than clicking and draggin to load samples, layer drums, chop samples, etc. as far as mixing everything i was planning on running maschine as a VST in ableton so i could record my different tracks (sample chop, kick, snare, stuff like that) and then just sample and add effects in ableton. am i being stupid here? really what i'm looking for most is something where i can get most of my work done in hardware, loading and chopping my samples, recording sequences, layering drums etc all without having to swap between clicking and dragging and playing with my controller.
does the maschine mk1 have timestretch with the 1.8 software or do you have to have to have a mk2 for that? because i use timestretch a ton so it's kinda a big deal. if i could get timestretch in the mk1 i would probably just grab a used mk1 and some monitors and be done with it.
Hey, how do I try and make the clap in this song less noticeable? Not my song, but the clapping is really off.

Yeah the mk1 is the same as mk2 software wise. Just without the colors and the pads are not as sensitive.
I didn't mean you'd want an audio interface for quality as much as latency, because you will probably have some latency without one. Also if you get monitors you will need an audio interface for the 1/4 inch outputs.
Yeah you can pretty much do all your music making in Maschine standalone easily and then just use it as a VST with the 16 outputs in Ableton for mixing

Try reducing a little bit of that high end of the clap, it's really popping out of the song
Alright, so I need some advice from you guys.
I've been playing saxophone for about 5-6 odd years now, up until about a year and a half, where I just sort of... stopped. It's been very difficult convincing myself to get back into it, and I have no idea why.
Any suggestions?

You don't want to play it.
That's okay, take a break. Maybe pick up another instrument, piano or something? Get a DAW and make some electronic music.
This happens to everyone who does anything creative. You kinda get this mental block to doing something.
The only thing that fixes it is time and while waiting for it to resolve itself you could learn something other. Just be sure to practice saxophone occasionally to not completely rust and to see if you're up to playing it again.
Hey guys, I've mucked around with producing for quite a while, but I've decided to start learning seriously.
Would you guys recommend any good starting points. Books? videos? Websites?
Any areas I should prioritize learning first?
I use FL Studio by the way.
