Hey guys, I've mucked around with producing for quite a while, but I've decided to start learning seriously. Would you guys recommend any good starting points. Books? videos? Websites? Any areas I should prioritize learning first? I use FL Studio by the way.
http://www.tweakheadz.com/perfect_mix.html bam What you want to do is learn how to use the following things first and how to apply them well and properly and know them inside out - Panning Levels Compression and Noise Gates EQ Reverb Delay of course if you've mucked around before you may know those things so imo, look through the soundonsound website for some good articles, check the link above (it's fantastic) and learn the keyboard also or at least know the notes
Thanks mate I know the basics of those areas but I'd rather actually learn them properly I was thinking of getting a midi keyboard too
What's a good midi keyboard for a beginner?
Bought tickets to see Noisia and The Prodigy tonight... ..tickets haven't come. FUCK.
You guys heard this right? It just released today, it's a remake of the Majora's Mask OST. It's fucking incredible. http://theophany-rmx.bandcamp.com/album/times-end-majoras-mask-remixed
You don't want to play it. That's okay, take a break. Maybe pick up another instrument, piano or something? Get a DAW and make some electronic music. This happens to everyone who does anything creative. You kinda get this mental block to doing something. The only thing that fixes it is time and while waiting for it to resolve itself you could learn something other. Just be sure to practice saxophone occasionally to not completely rust and to see if you're up to playing it again.
The only way to do it is to force it, never stop just continue and try new stuff with it.

Can somebody suggest me a super cheap, basic midi keyboard?

Gotta problem I can't fix. The pluck is getting drowned out and I need a way for it to cut ahead of everything else so it's the most prominent sound but I can't figure how to do it.
Can anyone show me some post metal/post rock solo projects (other than Cloudkicker)? I'm trying to work on 2 tracks and just can't get any proper drum flourishes. I want to hear how other soloists do it!
I just got a Fender Starcaster guitar, first guitar and I am loving it so far, hopefully in a few weeks I'll learn a song or two. :buddy:

Anyone here own NI Komplete 8? I was thinking about getting it but not sure if it's worth spending $500.
Anyone here own NI Komplete 8? I was thinking about getting it but not sure if it's worth spending $500.
can't you just find komplete 8 elsewhere. it's a massive ripoff.
What are the benefits of a sound card with ASIO drivers as opposed to ASIO4ALL?
What are the benefits of a sound card with ASIO drivers as opposed to ASIO4ALL?
ASIO4ALL isn't the proper version of the drivers and so can encounter several problems when using it. A real ASIO driver on your card will make you almost never encounter problems.
omg my girlfriend got me a roland tr505 for christmas The sequencer's start/stop button, doesn't work at all - which basically renders its entire function as a sequencer as useless. I'm getting it fixed or I'm going to use its midi capabilities to wire it through my DAW sequencer so I can still use it, which I would probably do anyway so I can sync it to my soft synths. Also, the crash cymbal but doesn't work, which is probably more of a shame. But it sounds fucking excellent. It's a shame its got a bit of wear and tear, but it IS a 1980s machine so whatever. Very analog. Also get one of these baby analog synth, love it
ASIO4ALL isn't the proper version of the drivers and so can encounter several problems when using it. I fixed my sequencer and am now playing LCD soundsystem grooves all up in this bitch
I fixed my sequencer and am now playing LCD soundsystem grooves all up in this bitch
If it really sounds like LCD soundsystem grooves I might invest into one of these muthas
i almost bought a TR-707 the other day but 600 was too much for me to pay
If it really sounds like LCD soundsystem grooves I might invest into one of these muthas
Aphex Twin is documented as using it but having heard it, it does sound like LCD Soundsystem Anyway thisispain Get a 505 dude They're dirt cheap compared to any of the other roland units, which are criminally expensive, and if you midi sync it you can use the nuendo filter as a substitute for the roland filter, and they have good sounds and I think you can route samples through them, but don't quote me the sounds are fucking good though, pure analog but kind of that cheesy 80s machine sound. Got it second hand for I would say about $150 aus In Australia though its really, really hard to find cheap analog gear in good condition that isn't Yamaha. Even 80s synths like the Yamaha CS10 go for in excess of $1000 when you can get them for about $500 in America. Mostly I have to get shit from Ebay but i hear modeless factory is very good for heavy duty analog synths, like a Yamaha CS10 for $550
whenever I learn how to play a song on guitar and then see it labelled as 'easy' I feel like I've just won a fight against a small child
fuckup of the year: never knew zoom r16 could do 24 bit/96 khz
Emperor and Centra released their sample pack today. It's pretty sick and cheap, their whole idea was to release a pack that has only useful samples (and do it cheaper than most packs :v:) http://eacsamples.bigcartel.com/ https://soundcloud.com/eacsamples
Real fucking interesting discovery made by "The Freeman" that sent me this via inbox, showing me that my song "Dancing In The Night" has almost the exact same waveform as Ke$ha's "Die Young" Dunno but if you ask me that's pretty fucking crazy
So is there a difference between buying an album on Beatport and buying the songs individually? An album I found there was $12, but buying the songs individually would cost $8.
