bought a little $15 ukulele and i learned a few chords and it is so fun to play
i know the first few lines of "Want You Gone" :j
I'm doing a year of military service starting tomorrow, and what worries me the most is that I probably won't be able to play drums very often.
At least I'm bringing my harmonica.
[QUOTE=thisispain;39873152]if a snare is too compressed you end up a flat TOOSH sound because rather than it having a snap followed by a transient roll-off its instead a constant sound so you hear the snap, the snare wires, and the ring after it which creates a lot of sound and reduces how much the snare sticks out in a mix
not very compressed:

I think you got it the wrong way mate, the pixies got really compressed snare, motley on the other hand is compressed but not nearly as much as the pixies.
Thanks for the info guys, i think I get it now, but I'll just have to mess around with compression settings to really understand it all
lookin' to get better with ableton,
lookin' to make both hip hop, trip hop, and flying lotus-esque sounds
where should I start, tutorial wise?
You should look at how to make things work - how to make ableton work and how to use its synths. But don't try tutorials for 'how to make a trip hop sound' or anything - that's just lazy. Do it by ear, work that bit out yourself
After trying to make and scrapping hundreds of electronica, dance, rave, industrial and ambient tunes, I've finally started making a samba/jazz tune. Don't know why I find it easier to make..
damn this remix contest, after my 40+ hours of work they decide to close it early so I can't submit my entry.
ALL THAT WORK
Edit: Finally got a response from an admin, it's all good now

nah thats a steve albini production, hes famous for barely using compression
if you record a snare the way he does you get that sound without any compression, i can do it in my garage just fine
Read up bitchez

turns out my good buddy lives shed way out in the woods with a drum kit, so we goofed around out there today

I always end up blocking B string with my pinky while playing late goodbye tabs. Any tips ?
Ring finger on e and pinky on G.
EDIT: Index on e and ring on G works better comparatively.
Try switching up your fretting hand, have your hand do things you're not usually doing vOv
I'm getting a bit tired at havign to constantly give c&c without getting any, especially since I do acoustic songs. Is it because I do acoustic music people don't want to give me c&c or is it because they consider my music sub-par?

I wouldn't exactly call what you do acoustic music
tbh I don't find metal music like this all that interesting, which seems to be the majority of what you do
I think having looked at your stream my favourite is pump it which really reminds me of a hawkwind song in a good way
I would just like to throw this out there to educate people. A "song" is music with words or lyrics. A "piece" does not have words or lyrics in it.
Tbh I think in this day and age a concrete definition/structure is completely useless and everything should just be called a music
Man, I wish I knew an awesome dj/electronic music creator which I could play live drums with like Break Science.
