if your coordination is good definitely, otherwise you can do it by mouse.
I want to start learning how to play the piano, and learn some music theory and eventually learn to play a guitar too. What is the best website to learn this? Is there any software I can use (I'll be using an MIDI keyboard) that will teach me?
SORRY I meant the music forum.
for playing a laptop through a sound system, there really isn't anything that lives up to the quality of hardware necessary for production other than a macbook pro. there are lots of studies done into it, and alot hardware by dell and hp in laptops are just wired too quickly without thought for sound, and are fitted with god-awful sound cards, meaning you usually have to run an external one which at the end of it all creates a lot of latency for the music you're making. you'll get alot of white noise and lag on anything other than a macbook basically, and logic is probably the best DAW available anyway the only downside is the incredibly stupid cost
surprisingly my IBM handles sound excellently. i've seen quite a few electronic artists use IBM laptops.
my HP does sound great
-snip- Nvm I found it out
I barely ever post here, but I thought I'd share this with you guys Finished this song yesterday. I'm trying to have chaotic changes in songs I write. Like really unusual stuff. Going from one riff into another, but sort of keeping it simple at the same time. What do you think?
Nevermind this
What are some must knows for recording voice? I don't care if I am singing or not.
What are some must knows for recording voice? I don't care if I am singing or not.
Buy a pop filter. Compress that shit
What are some must knows for recording voice? I don't care if I am singing or not.
Make sure your singer isn't too close/too far from the mic, pop filter, compression, make sure it's not clipping anywhere.. that's about it.
I just bought REAPER. It won me over, Functionality wise it easily competes with the big name stuff and it works well across two monitors. The price is just the icing on the cake, I'd pay £200+ for it even.
So i take time to listen and give criticism to others but nobody even bothers to give criticism, it makes giving criticism no fun when there is no give and take.
So i take time to listen and give criticism to others but nobody even bothers to give criticism, it makes giving criticism no fun when there is no give and take.
Such is life in the MGR.
Gonna check out an Access Virus C some guy put up for sale tomorrow. I'm excited. And not just because I'll finally get to fiddle with a Virus myself, but because the guy that's selling it is 40 years old, has tattoos on the top of his goddamn head and has been producing before I was even born :v:.
So i take time to listen and give criticism to others but nobody even bothers to give criticism, it makes giving criticism no fun when there is no give and take.
You should get a song on one of the Collab albums. Those usually get quite a few reviews.
Such is life in the MGR.
A shame [editline]24th March 2012[/editline]
You should get a song on one of the Collab albums. Those usually get quite a few reviews.
I will do this do you know when the collab album will be released?
I will do this do you know when the collab album will be released?
Somewhere between tomorrow and never. It'll be released once it has enough songs and people think that it's ready.
So i take time to listen and give criticism to others but nobody even bothers to give criticism, it makes giving criticism no fun when there is no give and take.
I feel you. MGR has been on the raise recently and people drop by in hope of getting some feedback. Sometimes they leave right after that so there are much more songs to comment on but not so many people who could comment them. [editline]25th March 2012[/editline] Not saying it is necessarily bad, but it means that sometimes you just wont be noticed even when you do critisize some songs :/
I'm working on an EP and it would be fun to make one song on it a collaboration with someone (and collabs are a fun thing to do anyway). Anybody up for it? I'm using FL Studio 10.0.9. Here are some examples of what I have so far:
Sounds relaxing, Nonikai.

If you're wondering how it sounds: This thing is so fun to create sounds in. The sound is so phat straight out of the box, that I don't even have to apply any compression in my DAW.
http://soundcloud.com/groups/facepunch-producers whats the status on this group
I'm one happy camper
needs more analogue, is there a knob for that?
There actually is an "analog amount" knob hidden within the edit menu. :v: There's also randomization amount, that applies random little stuff to everything, which gives a pretty analogue sound. [editline]27th March 2012[/editline]
i would make sweet love to operah for one of those
Well it did cost me 650 euros and a leg, but it was worth it.

When I tried turning it it all the way up to 127 it stopped me at 126 and asked me if I was sure I was ready to experience the analogue-iest sound ever. I was afraid, so I turned my Virus off. I'll try again tomorrow.
