The front end fits the 6 perfectly fine, I can't stand it on the 3.
Honestly it just looks gopping on a Mazda 3.
Get a slightly older GTI instead of a brand new Golf
Considering he's turning in a 2013 and getting a 2014, I think he's leasing, not buying.
I thought that too but he mentioned keeping the car for the next 6 years or so, pretty sure he's looking to buy this time rather than lease.
Oh you're right, I missed that. Still, I think he's really looking for a new car.
I'd go for the Speed3 also unless it was a MK4 R32 or the brand new Golf R.
However, they don't make the Speed3 anymore, he's looking for a new car and the new 3 is disgustingly ugly
Not in my opinion. I think it's one damn sexy car. Stock it's low, extremely competent, and the goofy grin on the front simply gives it that little splash of character on the front of a smoothly aggressive bodystyle. Plus, a hood cowl that actually WORKS? I've always had a soft spot for these cars.

The front of that thing looks like one of those paper snowflakes you cut out with all the concentric lines.
Yeah, that front looks awful.

Oh god.
I can't unsee it now.

That's not a 2014+. I really liked the look of all the pre-2014's, they welded the new Mazda 6 front end onto the 3 and updated it a bit more. I posted a picture of it earlier.
I've been pondering it for this thread as to what car I would get brand new in this size/range if I had to get one.. It's hard because there's not much good IMO.
Honda Accord is nice, but might be a little big compared to the other 2?
http://automobiles.honda.com/accord-coupe/
Excellent interior feel/quality, though.
The Honda Civic is kind of ugly, IMO.. but it's a smaller option
http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-coupe/
The Mazda3 is really, really nice looking from the outside and has no stupid bullshit interior on the inside. Plus it comes in a 4 door and a 5 door hatch.

I don't follow Mazda much.. but they're on point for this styling. Everything except this...sadly

Hyundai makes a nice car these days.. but their small car flagship, the Elantra, is pretty boring.
Speaking of Korea.. the Forte is pretty nice

That's a few I'd test drive, personally.
If I were to get a brand new car while taking all costs into consideration, it would probably be a Fiesta with the 1.0 EcoBoost, or possibly a Fiesta ST.

So many German cars do this. I don't get it why, because it looks absolutely terrible, like a last minute addition to the car.

Every reason I wouln't buy a Fiesta or Focus comes back to this;

Someone please get Ford's design team back to their home planet, they must be lonely. :'(
Before the 2016 Focus hatchback turns into this

Don't be one of those retards that buys a Mazda3 and pretends it's a twin turbo evo.

The new Accord is a really great car, if I had to get a moderately priced new car I would go straight for an Accord Sport. The 9th gen Civic coupe is a horribly neglected chassis, you shouldn't really bother with the coupe.
Mugen and all of the tuning companies in Japan are giving all their love to the sedan as it's a more rigid chassis. Out of the box they generally have stiffer swaybars and springs even though very mildly in comparison.
[editline]1st June 2014[/editline]
Actually, the Civic coupe hasn't been sold in Japan since 2000. So the EM1 99-00 Si was basically the last hurrah of a Japan having a hand in the coupe chassis.
I'm honestly surprised the 8th gen coupe was so good. Since my family owns both a 15k mile 2010 coupe and a 35k mile 2006 sedan I can see that the coupe was very much cobbled together as an after thought and requirement.
I thank all of you for your support, but I ended up getting the 2014 Volkswagen Golf with the Convenience Package (Graphite Blue). I managed to get a very decent deal on it and I have thought about the Mazda 3, but I just cannot imagine myself in a Mazda just yet XD
And to the people who were talking about the Honda Civic 2014 model earlier, you can score it for $97 a month if the deal applies in your area. I just got tired of my Civic, but that's just me. I do have a lot of plans on modifying my Golf so I look forward to that. Thanks guys! =D
I'd go for the Golf, but the Fiesta is quite a lovely car defenetly worth a buy ;)
Clutch2 has a good point, though. Ford of Europe's interiors department is run by aliens or something. They're universally horrible, while Ford of America's interiors are consistently good to great.

If you're looking at the sedans (which I'm assuming you are since the only other car you linked that comes as a hatch is the Forte), the Mazda6 interior has a double-din screen that doesn't stick up like the 3's, it looks much nicer IMO.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/r7gwn7J.jpg[/t]
Also, while we're talking about Mazda interiors, the e-brake on my '06 3 is on the passenger side next to the cupholders, so if you have anything in the cupholders you can't reach the e-brake. Bloody annoying, especially when it's a manual and I live in a hilly area.

Whenever a manufacturer makes a design decision like that, I just have to wonder, "What were they thinking?" Did nobody anywhere along the design process actually think about the usability of their cars?
If I were to buy a brand new cheapish car, I'd wait until next year and get Dart SRT-4, I've heard good things about the new rebadge and I think SRT will just make it better.
I am turning in my 2013 Honda Civic Coupe in a few days and I am thinking of either getting a 2014 Volkswagen Golf (with convenience package) or a 2014 Scion tC.
As far as I know, both cars aren't really modifiable (body kits, spoiler, etc.). I could be wrong but I am having a difficult time choosing between the two. Both cars are within my budget and I would really appreciate any input!
The price doesn't matter too much, just don't want to end up with the wrong deal for the next 6 years or so.
Hell, I would take any other recommendations within the $190-$200+ per month price range =)
- Don't get a Golf
- Can't really go wrong with the Scion since its Toyota
- Dodge Darts are nice, give the tigershark powered models a try
- Mazda 3s are very nice cars but I don't like the damned floating screen and never will (the Germans are fuckheads for making that trend)
- If you can get a Mazda 6, that would be better than a 3
- Fiat 500 if you don't mind what others think(only worth it if you get an Abarth in red with white or black stripes...)
- Or do what I do and get a good bicycle and a Mercedes, and then just use the bicycle except for bullshit errands (you don't want to do this unless if you can ride a bike 60 miles straight and still walk properly afterwards)

They don't agree, here's 2015:

They took the CIRCULAR. VENTS. What kind of Satan would do that? They did that to the Mustang too. Those circular vents are one of the greatest features of our generation F-150's interior.
Overall, however, that interior isn't too bad, really. It seems to reflect the truck's (uglier) exterior in its use of harsher angles for no apparent reason. It also appears they're widening the space between the passenger and driver to ludicrous levels. Overall I think it's a step in the wrong direction, but it's still a better direction than the Focus/Fiesta interiors.
They made the steering wheel design more rounded, but boxed up the vents :v:

Don't worry, Toyota has you covered with a truck with a solid carryover driveline
I have to say, even though I don't like the outside, the new tundra interior looks nice.
I would say the new RAM's interiors and the tundras and definitely my favorite.
