I think the way most people respond to people eating dogs is honestly hilarious just how kneejerk and arbitrary it is. I wouldn't eat dogs but as long as it's done humanely I don't really particularly care (which, btw, so much meat in the west isn't anyways.)

people who try to avoid eating food and would instead rather have pills and shakes (SOYLENT is a prime example) seem to be very disturbing and weird. i have never seen a healthy person drinking that stuff, and I've never seen a healthy person having a desire to replace their entire diet with it as well. the reasoning given for not eating is stuff like "it takes too long to cook food" or "its too hard". are these people idiots or lazy? it seems like a thoroughly inhuman thing to actively refuse to eat real food and to only eat insane diets that only a dipshit from silicon valley could think of up.

People always say that powerful scenes told with no dialogue and only through visuals are more impressive than powerful scenes with dialogue (the opening for Up being a good example). I myself love dialogue-less storytelling as much as the next guy, but I feel the opposite in terms how impressive it is. I think writing dialogue that holds emotional weight and insight, while still sounding as natural as someone in real life would say, is an extremely difficult balance to figure out, and I don't think the people who write it get the recognition they deserve. That's not to say I think the Up scene would be as good if it did have talking in it. That montage is essentially perfect the way it is, especially since without dialogue, the soundtrack takes the front stage instead. That being said, I sorta feel like the emotion associated with the scene is just too "easy" to achieve, for a lack of a better word to use. I think a dialogue-driven scene that could deliver the same emotion as the Up scene, without the dialogue sounding embarrassingly cheesy or melodramatic, is a lot more difficult to do and a lot more commendable.

All drugs should be legalized for recreational use in order to (hopefully) reduce gang related violence, give users proper information and a safe source, and allow people easier means to addiction recovery options rather than throwing them all in prison.
