fuck. You can't make me go out and buy ice cream and a box of cones like this today. I'M TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT
Popsicles are horrible to eat, trying to bite/chew them is like eating a blackboard when your teeth are made of chalk. The sensation is insanely revolting.
And don't say "they're meant to be licked", licking popsicles/lollypops looks vulgar and its slow.
Sucking on lollypops can be acceptable, but you can't really do it with popsicles.
it's just tasty bj practice
If you suck on a popsicle like you'd suck on a cock, you're gonna get popsicle juice all over your jaw, neck and probably shirt. And that's gonna be all sticky in a very non-fun way.
i do it in the bathtub. works great
Im a software developer and I dont give a shit about AI or cryptocurrency
But... it makes no sense
Because? So far the main arguments I have seen against it consist of removing or altering an entire concept, like birthrate. And I don't know if that's something the stones can do. But halving the population is an easy solution which counters the main cause of overpopulation.
Which would go right back up to what it was within a few years. Also, studies on population show that developed countries are declining in population anyway. So it's all bs
Condoms. Space alien condoms.
Why would people suddenly stop fucking when half of their population died? It'd take a couple of generations for the population to be back to its original values, and a couple of generations is nothing at the scale of the universe. If anything, the availability of resources without education would probably make the birthrate go up to compensate for it faster. Afterwards, you're left with overpopulation (again), and the only difference being that the entire universe is fucking pissed at Thanos.
They're stones which give you control over the different aspects of reality. If you have them all you become omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. You can literally do anything you want.
Killing half the people in the universe is the dumbest solution to a problem you could come up with with that power. The story made more sense when he wanted to date Death.
You said it yourself. It'd take a couple of generations for the population to get back to pre-genocide levels. So the problem is fixed for a few generations. It's by no means a perfect solution, but it IS a solution.
Overpopulation is literally not a problem though. At all. In any capacity.
It all depends on whether you can solve the problems overpopulation causes. With enough food, jobs and space it's not a problem. But if you can't solve those problems, then the easiest method is preventing overpopulation.
The movie "Heat" was just as much a tragic, sad movie as it was an action/heist movie
Dude, read this
I literally even responded to a post like that. It would take generations for the population to get back to it's original level. Pretty sure only a select few developed countries have a declining population, the majority don't. Not like it matters, since Thanos' point isn't that a population can't be stable. If the population is stable and very high, there are often vast amounts of poor people. Take a look at most densely populated countries. Apart from a few, they've got a large majority of impoverished people. Those people would never know real happiness and safety (or at least in Thanos' eyes).
Thanos' solution is a bit like what happens after war. WW2 destroyed Japan's economy, but it experienced a massive boost in the decades after it. The people's personal wealth and happiness increased tremendously. And this isn't just the case for Japan. It happened in my own country too. The city of Rotterdam was leveled during WW2. After it had been rebuilt, it was and still is the biggest European port. It's economy also grew immensely.
Although the destruction of both Japanese and European cities was a terrible event, it also paved the way for the future. If not for those bombings, Rotterdam would've been a worse place to live now.
Similarly to rebuilding after war, Thanos' genocide creates vast amounts of space and jobs. There are less people, and their jobs are more important. Workers' rights increase because they are less replaceable.
It's not exactly that the population will eventually grow too large and collapse, it's more that the people would be a lot happier if the population was smaller.
Thanos himself also speaks of this in Infinity War. He talks to Gamora about her homeplanet. Before Thanos visited it, people lived in hunger. But years after, the people had secure and happy lives.
Because America poured billions into Japan and Europe so it could have allies in Europe and Asia. It wasn't fucking divine providence that improved things.
Right, but Thanos' genocide doesn't cost anyone anything (except lives). The most expensive war in all of history does cost a bit. There would still be money. But lets assume it would slow rebuilding down. Then it'd take 40 years instead of 10 to rebuild everything. Things would still be better afterwards.
are we unironically comparing Marvel Movie Villain Plans to World War II
Things don't magically get better because there are fewer people. You have no logical follow through.
Over population isn't a problem. Overcrowding is a problem but that's a space management issue. Most places which suffer from horrible over crowding are poor areas which have been severely neglected. The solution to that isn't to kill half the people living there, it's to improve their living conditions. 1 million people living in a shithole isn't really an improvement over 2 million people living in a shithole, especially when the problems which cause the place to be a shithole are never addressed.
If you want to improve anything you have to look at the root causes of the problem and correct it. Killing any amount of people is not a solution. If you have two million starving people the solution is to find out why they're starving and correct it, not kill half and have 1 million starving people instead.
No, I am merely comparing an aspect of it to the rebuilding of Europe and Japan.
I could unironically compare Thanos' plan to Hitler's. Both wanted a mass murder on absolute massive levels. One kills completely indiscriminately, while the other doesn't. That's pretty much where the similarities end. I would like to see a Thanos with a toothbrush moustache though.
Population decreases are economic disasters, anyway. Japan is likely going to have an economic crisis soon as a generation of the elderly die off in a wave, causing overall population to plummet. Modern economics is entirely based around the assumption that population and, therefore, overall demand, is going to increase. Violating that assumption is disastrous. You're going to get mass die-offs of economically valuable small businesses whose profit margins are small enough that any dip in demand sinks them. You're going to fill warehouses with unsold and unsellable product. You're going to get abandoned infrastructure and housing, which just begs for looting and crime. It's a fuckin disaster. Don't kill people just because they're inconvenient.
Studies show that there are more than enough resources for a population of 11 billion which it looks like the earth will stabilise at. so no, garbage idea
I never said it was a good solution to the problem.
The cause for starvation is generally a lack of food, or a lack of money to buy food with. If there is a lack of food, it would be a lot easier to feed 1 million people with that amount than 2 million. If the problem is a lack of money, then that'd be helped a bit too. The demand in workers rises, and the income likely rises too. Those that didn't have a job now have a greater chance of getting one, while the ones that already had one have a more secure job with a higher income.
And yes, small business could go bankrupt. I don't think Thanos' plan was a short term one. It's a sacrifice for his idea of a greater good. Half the people die and the first decades would be hard. But eventually people will be happier.
A more reasonable solution would be to produce, or procure, more food and to implement rationing so everyone gets a fair amount and no one has to die.
How does demand for workers rise when there are fewer people? Construction jobs would plummet now that there's a severe excess of property, the value of all properties would plummet, farms would go unattended and wither. Factories would rust and decay. So much infrastructure would crumble and fail that the cost of replacement would be astronomical, and because you're (at best) halved your economy you won't be able to afford to fix it.
So no income wouldn't rise, it'd take a steep fall very quickly and it'd stay low.
Job security does not increase when half the people die. Every job there is requires interaction with others, having a random number of your customers, clients, and partners dying is not helpful to any business. In Thanos' system businesses succeed or fail not based on how well they do business or the qualify of their product but on whether or not they got unlucky and the majority of their customers just died. Killing half the people literally destroys the concept of job security.
If Thanos' plan isn't short term why is he halving the population when the population will replace itself in a few generations? Short term his plan is utterly destructive and long term his plan is largely irrelevant.
Eventually people would be happier how? What causes this increase in happiness? It's not security, or the economy, or knowing your loved ones won't spontaneously die.
No, but if you're playing Devil's Advocate you're not getting the high score.
Thanos should be tried at the international court of justice for being evil
I mean he's worst than Hitler
I really hate capitalism
