Communism doesn't have anything to do with capitalism being dogshite tho
Capitalism is far from perfect but I would sure as hell rather take that over pretty much any other system.
Not to mention you can have things like government regulations and welfare programs run concurrently with a capitalist economy. Outright blasting capitalism mostly just gives away how uninformed and/or naïve you are.
The argument that war somehow boosts economies is utter dogshit and I'm surprised so many people hold that opinion.
Do you know which country hasn't been utterly devastated by two consecutive world wars? The US.
Weirdly enough, their economy grew even faster than Japan or Europe. It's as if not having to rebuild basic infrastructure gives you a headstart or something.
Agree with you on many things except for the K9s and the off-sides. Police K9's and dogs in general DO count as people to me and several people at the very least. They might not be as intelligent or capable as a human being, but they can be as important as any other family member to many.
Off-sides were implemented due to the size of the 11 man field, having played both 7 and 11 man soccer as a kid and teenager I understand why it is there, to prevent bumrushes and snipe goals from the goalkeeper on the other side, and a special meta-role I had was to just stand near the enemies soccer goal "fishing" for goals. I became the top scorer not out of skillful play, but being an opportunistic little shit. Off-side insures a good and exciting ball game instead of one team winning 100-0
the shit that HOTS removes is all the things that I enjoy about MOBAs and I don't get the appeal of any MOBA other than DOTA
Most usage of "old media" vs. "new media" is pretty erroneous and silly.
Especially since "new media" can be divided into "new new media" and "old new media," and you can pretty much divide it fractally downwards
As much as imgur gets flank for compression issues, I'll still keep using it for all my image hosting. Why? Because at least I know that 5 years down the line, whatever I've embedded with it will still be visible unlike 95% of all image hosting site where it expires in like 2 weeks.
Most of my usage of Imgur happens because it integrates with ShareX so well. I haven't been able to successfully link ShareX to any other image host in a way that satisfies me.
Which hasn't been tried
it's starting to get a little tiring seeing so many people go full armchair psychiatrist and jump straight to diagnosing strangers with sociopathy whenever someone's an asshole
I don't know why, but I find Star Wars to be very boring
Star Wars at its core is a bunch of tropes that are played out in very appealing and likeable ways, but since then those tropes have been so beaten to death that watching Star Wars after you're a kid doesn't really have the same punch. The best way to watch Star Wars is to watch it at the age of 10 or so, most people who do that end up loving Star Wars forever.
Twitter's definition of cultural appropriation is nothing more than a meme.

After reading the article by the guy who got Jordan Peterson a university job, I’m convinced Peterson is a lunatic who thinks he’s some sort of savior and is quite frankly dangerous.
I really wish this was a popular opinion because it is quite frankly true
Link?
Old punch is better than newpunch
dunno why so many people like the new site
I want my read threads, the subscription button is broken af, I don't see all the new threads/subscribed threads getting updated in my feed
I was Jordan Peterson’s strongest supporter. Now I think he’s da..
I've seen it said on here quite a lot that the quality of discussion is better than places like reddit, but honestly it's about as shit for the same reasons, with the benefits you get from a smaller community of it at least being more tolerable.
The nice thing about FP is that I know people by name, so I have context for a singular dumbass post and I know whether or not that stupidity is out of character.
One problem I have with Reddit is many subreddits I've visited don't really have discussions at all. It's mostly people making new threads in the hopes of being upvoted with maybe 3-4 replies. The whole reddit karma system encourages people to try to be the centre of attention to gain points so everyone makes new threads rather than using existing ones.
It's the exact fear many people had with labpunch, every fucking inane question getting its own thread. It's a fucking nightmare if you want to have actual conversations. Hell this thread wouldn't even exist in a Reddit system, it'd be a subreddit where every opinion is a new thread and no one comments or replies to each other. Unless something truly outrageous is posted.
Of course there are a ton of other problems with Reddit which cause the quality (and more often quantity) of discussion to be lesser. There are, of course, many subreddits where active conversations do happen, but I feel that that is more down to the active users working around the system. It's usually in well moderated subreddits with a lot of custom categorisation.
Reddit strays way too far from "pure conversation" in its attempt to gamify *everything* via karma and upvoting, and what results is a lack of good conversation and an abundance of people socially minmaxing for internet points.
thanks for the gold kind stranger
I know you're joking but this garbage triggers the absolute frick out of me
I prefer pepsi
Really unpopular opinion but I find colas to be gross in general, never liked them
