Like 5+ years ago I'm pretty sure it was a term used in online support groups to help lonely guys out with relationships, before getting warped into its current definition by like 2014-15, the same time the alt-right started gaining mainstream attention and culture wars intensified.
5+ years ago? Dude, try closer to 15. The incel community as we know it has been a running joke since at least '07 as far as I can remember.
I suppose the transition was already happening a decade ago but from what I remember, there were still those who just used it as an easy to understand term, without misogynistic intent. Like this (p cringey) video for example from 2010 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTEtCdhu6oU
if what you're trying to say is that the mainstream's recent criticism of incel communities might bleed over and reach outside the intended scope, making average, introverted men feel targeted, that's certainly something to think about. but i get the impression that you've misunderstood the use of the term, as if the news reporting on it were using "incel" as synonymous with "socially inept guy". i can guarantee you that's not the case
Yeah that's basically what I was getting at. I guess I'm using an antiquated version of the term since it seems like it's been embraced by the misogynistic groups that have popularized it, rather than the original connotation.
I'm determined to not let the fallout from RLM videos cause me to stop loving RLM but oh boy does that get difficult sometimes.
Speaking of incels where was that black pill draft @TimTimTommy promised to give us?
@TimTimTommy I'm still waiting, I need this in my life
Theres a difference between a virgin who has a rough time getting laid and someone who self idrntifies as an "incel"
I eat these. I actually just had some for snack today :3 because i am a child https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51WVvg2us2L.AA500_PIbundle-12,TopRight,0,0_AA500_SH20_.jpg
And let me continue ranting about Reddit. Compared to facepunch, threads just die. If its a news thread, its dead by the next day, you make a reply? Nobody is going to answer back to you. Because of how big the community is, threads are generated in the thousands everyday, redditors just skim over them.
I like both facepunch and reddit. They comprise most of my web browsing together. Both have their own flow, purpose, and place in my internet experience.
it's called a manifesto kid and trust me buddy.... u don't want it kiddo.......... it'll really wake u up..... alright alright boys how we doing tonight do you REALLY want me to drag this thing out i don't wanna argue about this tbh i made the post 99.9% just to get a reaction of course i want women to vote i love my mommy and she votes for the right party

this is lame as fuck, I wanted to be given a lecture and be convinced that I shouldn't be able to vote. This is bullshit, I paid good money for this
what the fuck 2007 is 11 years ago someone please stop time before i turn into a fossil
Round up all the incels onto an island and nuke em from orbit

I don't think Seinfeld is that funny How did it ever get so popular? Was it just a different type of humor for a different generation?
It was literally the anti-sitcom compared to other shows in the 90s. Kinda ahead of it's time when you think about it.
it dealt with banal, everyday stuff that other shows didn't think was TV material. it was relatable, it's just harder to understand now with social media and the internet being pretty much entirely based around banal humor
"seinfeld isn't funny" is an entire trope in and of itself, and it refers to the fact that something groundbreaking for its time will usually be usurped by those who follow in its footsteps and develop upon the basic ideas that allowed it to break ground-- while most will still recognize it as important for what it was, they will also generally point to the works that follow it as more interesting or more generally accessible in the modern day.
That "We GOTTA Get Spongebob Back" animation was 70% cringe and 30% comedy.
The next Diablo game should be a science fiction spin-off, because i think we're long overdue for a twin-stick shooter that borrows heavily from ARPGs. Dunno how you'd balance assault rifles without making melee combat and spell casting completely useless though.
I am so utterly sick of videos that illustrate their points by having sped up footage of someone drawing with a marker
I'm really getting the sick of "YOURE JUST PARTISAN/HAVE AN AGENDA/WANT TO FIT A NARRATIVE AND ONLY CARE CUZ THAT" when it comes to tragedies like, a school shooting or Israel does something bad, and the suggestion is "we should hold israel accountable/have better gun control". Like, okay I have an agenda. So what? What's this weird deal of using agenda/partisan as a slur, because the nuts saying that clearly have an agenda too against the interests I have. It's saying it as if there's some fucking weird ulterior conspiracy to it all as opposed to me just not wanting Israel to commit atrocities anymore, or me not wanting there to be school shootings anymore.
I don't think America is ready for a new "true" Deus Ex game. I don't want to see a game having to dignify concepts like "Crisis Actors"
men will always be intrinsically better at artillery than women because every time we take a piss we have to calculate the piss stream trajectory
Everything being an esports is not a bad thing. People have always been competitive with video games even when it's not really a competitive game. If the game requires very high skill to compete at the top level then I think it's great, no matter what game it is.
