Unlocking new fighters is great when you're 10 and the only people you play the game with are your parents, your brother, and your one friend who likes fighting games.

Regarding the Nintendo Switch's popularity, I can't help but think that the main thing that's holding the system's library back is actually Bethesda Softworks. Might seem odd that a third party is what's holding an entire console back, but I'm pretty sure that if id Tech 6 was licenseable, we would hear much more about PS4/PC/Switch multiplatform games.
I think that may just be the e3 demo. I dont think Smash bros will bar 53 fighters from the get go.
If they do hidden characters I'd cut that amount and leave people with 55 to start. Tekken and Street Fighter give you 20+ right out of the box usually so why not go all out?
I thought Sakurai said the roster would start out very small because he wanted people to have fun unlocking them through different objectives? I think it's just 12 starting characters.
They should leave in a cheat to unlock everything right away. Makes tournament setups on new consoles a piece of cake.
