I think there's a difference between "not having a filter" and "telling it like it is" too. Not having a filter would just mean you say whatever comes to mind without considering anything first. Telling it like it is would be telling the truth even if that's an uncomfortable or unpopular truth to hear.

I feel weird when other guys talk to me about the "types of women" they know.
It feels strange for me to classify people on types, like "types of bosses", "types of guys", "types of neighbors".
I feel like in most cases, the classification is incomplete and relies pretty much only in the experience on the person who created the classification, plus they're biased depending on the outcomes the person has faced.
I've never meet anyone who was as shitty as people said, the same way, I've never met a person who was as good as other people said.
Everyone is so different, while you could probably identify certain traits and behaviors in a group of people, at the end of the day they might behave different and think different.

Like metallica were huge, then theres megadeth, and then slayer were also a huge thrash band but theyre nothing like the other two, then youve got anthrax which didnt really seem like they were above testament/morbid angel and im probably missing some other 80s thrash bands that are the same. it just seems too arbitrary for anyone to really say 'okay these four bands are the biggest thrash metal bands and everyone will remember them as the big four'[/QUOTE]
essentially, as far as I see it, it's because anthrax had commercial power. but I find that the four bands represent four subgenres of thrash metal. metallica represents the melodic movement, megadeth represents more technical shit, slayer is for the extremity, and anthrax is the goofy crossover stuff (because stormtroopers of death and nuclear assault had no commercial success except for maybe [i]Critical Mass[/i])
