Ghostbusters is most primarily a movie series though. Very few people would care about what's in the cartoons and comics.
huh what now
Do we know whether that was really their intent? It's been awhile. I remember them being proud about being a staff with a large amount of women (as it's out of the usual,) but not them defending themselves solely with "SEXISM!" It wasn't even diversity in the way you describe it, since for the leads it was just three white women and one black woman. I think you're just plain being unfair and are working from a predetermined conclusion formed from how the shitshow went down on the internet.
In George Lucas' case, he explicitly stated that studios wouldn't fund an expensive movie with an all black cast. Hidden Figures and 12 Years A Slave being about black people going through hardships and having mostly black casts kinda prove that wrong. And with Ghostbusters, they had to spin it positively somehow since Sony is hemorrhaging money. And it's not like larger studios haven't done shady or shitty things in the name of advertising before.

And it's not like larger studios haven't done shady or shitty things in the name of advertising before.
The average cost of a movie is about 100 million according to google, and those two movies were only around 20-30 million. So they aren't really counterexamples. That's not really an argument? I can find certain staff and whatnot defending it by claiming that everyone is misogynistic. But official sony statements I find mostly go along the lines of "a very vocal minority is afraid of media they love being remade"(link) and even deflections of "fuck off, we aren't just making ghostbusters with women" (link) I just don't really see the idea that their whole plot was based around shoving diversity in to rake money. Hell they didn't even do the PC thing correctly like you'd think they would since the black woman was pretty stereotypical in the movie, not being good at science but very street smart.
Why not? Why do you want to deny creators control over their work?
Derivative works. I want creators to have all the freedom in the world, the issue is that the people we're talking about didn't create the character, they're adapting it, and I see race/gender changes as just another unnecessary design change. I like established lore, I don't like messing with the original vision of things too much. It's the same reason that most of the mods I install in Bethesda games are bug fixes and minor feature changes, and even then there's never been more than 20 maximum, and that's when I tried to go out of my way to download a bunch of shit. I don't even download Unique Uniques or anything that makes sense to download. I hate reading fanfictions, I don't like changes in canon, etc. I don't know how everyone else who complains about it feels, but I want non-spinoff works to remain true to the original vision the original creator set out unless there's a real reason to change it, like if they were a hero created in the 1950s and were portrayed as a huge racist. That would be a good reason to change the character to me, but even then, that's a personality and/or background story change, I still want the design, race, and gender to be the exact same. I suppose the real issue here is that most super popular comic heroes were invented in the mid 1900s, so of course they're all white males.
It's better to keep status quo than pursue justice in law systems.
the reason why people get more diseases when the older they get is because almost all of their ancestors reproduced before hitting those ages anyway so living past 50ish is really just overkill

I don't really see an issue with changing a character's race or physical appearance tbh unless it's relevant to their character (i.e. more than "that's how they're described in the book").
It's better to keep status quo than pursue justice in law systems.
Well at least you're living up to your username.
every single OS sucks complete dick, all in their own special ways
[t]https://my.mixtape.moe/jfcnxl.png[/t]
Nothing against Robin Bengtsson, Mans Zelmerlow, Eric Saade and Loreen (in fact, all of those artists are awesome in their own ways), but I feel like we totally need Sabaton to compete in next year's Melodifestivalen
Humanz was awful
Humanz was awful
I think it's widely accepted as the worst Gorillaz album. It has grown on me, however.
I think it's widely accepted as the worst Gorillaz album. It has grown on me, however.
I actually enjoy parts of The Fall better
I actually enjoy parts of The Fall better
I think The Fall gets more hate than it deserves. I didn't think much of it at first, but I recently gave it another shot and it was a nice experience. It's also kinda depressing when you realize Damon was planning for it to be the last Gorillaz album.
i think the gorillaz are fucking boring and do not understand the hype
I used to like them in my teens and later realized they're fucking garbage
i still have a lot of love for them but i feel like i've outgrown them, demon dayz used to be my favorite album but now i only listen to a couple of songs off of it
Gorillaz has always been very hit or miss with me. Either I really like a song or don't care for it at all. I think I would actually say I don't care for most of their songs really. :pudge:
I don't like their albums as a whole but I like a majority of their songs
I didn't like cowboy bebop that much compared to the rest of the internet. What is so super special about it?
I didn't like cowboy bebop that much compared to the rest of the internet. What is so super special about it?
it's an all around well made package and easily accessible, so there's a lot of praise for it especially from people who dont normally watch anime saying it's the best anime they've seen, like with jojo it's great regardless though and there's plenty to love about it, but the praise does get excessive sometimes
Humanz was awful
I still think it's better than Plastic Beach.
I think Plastic Beach is arguably their best.
I just wish Damon did more singing in the songs in Humanz. My favorite Gorillaz songs are the ones with Damon in the spotlight, but this album really emphasizes " 'X Person' ft. Damon ".
I don't like Uncharted. I think the games are extremely linear, repetetive and clunky. Combat is dull, characters are flat as cardboard and the story is dragged out. Aside from being visually fantastic, I can't feel any substance in the series.
There isn't a weak track on Demon Days. also I like Humanz more than Plastic Beach, but I like all of their albums, except The Fall, only because I've never listened to it.
American chocolate (Hershey's specifically) tastes like vomit and I feel sorry for them for being accustomed to it.
American chocolate (Hershey's specifically) tastes like vomit and I feel sorry for them for being accustomed to it.
As an American, Hershey's is awful but there's lots of good chocolate out there if you look.
Wasn't the Fall basically just Damon fucking around with his iPad and calling it an album? I wouldn't even really call it a Gorillaz album.
I dunno why you wouldn't. It's still has a distinct Gorillaz vibe to it.
We should unban Loss.jpg from lmaopics Enough time has passed that it's become funny.
We should unban Loss.jpg from lmaopics Enough time has passed that it's become funny.
Unbanning it ruins the magic. If you're gonna post loss, it better be good enough to be worth the ban. That's the beauty.
