American schools should generally be year round. I get that there might be good exceptions for agricultural communities. But in general, summer breaks have been [URL="https://www.brookings.edu/research/summer-learning-loss-what-is-it-and-what-can-we-do-about-it/"]repeatedly observed[/URL] to be very harmful to learning, so they should be gotten rid of*. There's also other economic benefits too, such as having employers that use student workers more able to focus on year-round hiring instead of a massive glut in the summer. *Just a clarification for my fellow Americans. Year-round schools don't literally run all of the time. They have more frequent breaks than we do, and even in summer they usually get like a 4 week break. Although it almost feels wrong to destroy such a piece of American culture, it'll be better in the long-run. Some places are already doing it too.
