season 4 of Black Mirror was great overall and all the episodes were good.
black mirror fanboys are the worst. the show has been inconsistent since the beginning, some episodes are incredible and a good amount are pretty average
The Star Trek one had some silly plot holes but otherwise was really entertaining and well-done.
Lots of people seem to hate The National Anthem but it's still one of my favorites.
Since were on the topic, San Junipero is extremely overrated. IMO the best episodes are Entire History of You, White Christmas, and USS Calister
Since were on the topic, San Junipero is extremely overrated. IMO the best episodes are Entire History of You, White Christmas, and USS Calister
San Junipero is one of my absolute favorites but I might be biased towards it just because it's so fuckin gay.
Since were on the topic, San Junipero is extremely overrated.
Did anyone actually like that one? :v:
I sure didn't.
'Cringe culture' has gone way too far and instead of bemoaning legitimately bad behavior (like harassing women) is now more of a bullying tactic to shit on people (especially teenagers) who have interests you don't like
'Cringe culture' has gone way too far and instead of bemoaning legitimately bad behavior (like harassing women) is now more of a bullying tactic to shit on people (especially teenagers) who have interests you don't like
/r/cringeanarchy has gotten overtaken by alt right people who just use "cringe" as a catch-all term to label things they dont like its awful
'Cringe culture' has gone way too far and instead of bemoaning legitimately bad behavior (like harassing women) is now more of a bullying tactic to shit on people (especially teenagers) who have interests you don't like
It's pretty sad to see just how vicious all of the cringe and meme culture is these days. It's so full of toxic and hateful bullshit. Worst of all is that its mostly teens, which on one hand makes me hope that they grow out of it but on the other hand makes me worry that its shaping impressionable minds into genuinely awful people
I think Hated in the nation had one of the stupidest endings in the series.
I think Hated in the nation had one of the stupidest endings in the series.
The problem is that it had two great ideas - the "impenetrability" of corporate cybersecurity and social media anger and witchhunts - that just didn't really go together very well.
I feel like our expectations are higher than they should be. Technology may have improved but more detailed and intricate facial expressions/animations often end up treading into the uncanney valley and looking unsettling if not just looking like ass
I think it's amazing how the Source engine has it so that it auto generates lip sync for speech, don't know if it works with english but it does in other languages, has any other engine done that?

Sit tight and I'll deliver you an interesting video about lipsync auto-generation when I get back to my computer.

Does anyone really gain anything by bullying teenagers and little kids for doing things that are embarrassing, or even just something you don't like? Why do any adults who themselves grew up on the internet pretend they're any better? I grew up with the generation now obsessed with things that are cringy and we weren't any fuckin' better as kids. We were all dorky as fuck, calling each other nigger or swearing a bunch on xbox live in our squeaky little kid voices. We used 1337 talk for Christ's sakes. Yes, teen girls on tumblr can believe some stupid shit and they listen to music you don't like and dye their hair and have short haircuts. Yes, teen boys and teen girls get heavily involved in communities based around cartoons like Steven Universe and video games like Undertale that you might not like. Who cares. They're literally just kids expressing themselves and you are a grown ass adult getting mad over it. And the amount of talented artists and kids with real passion in life, way earlier than I ever had any, thanks to these fandoms and self expression is amazing. And yeah, they do some shit things, but kids are kind of garbage. So was I. So were you. Kids getting upset over things that don't matter or having some pretty garbage political opinions is normal. Even with adults it's still dumb, purely negative, immature bullying. It's like now, if you express yourself freely and don't trap yourself under layers of irony and ~self awareness~ you're sooo cringy. At least cringy people do stuff, and make things. I'd rather have a million drawings of Sans from Undertale or someone's Gemsona that develop a real creative talent rather than one dickweed bullying everyone while contributing nothing to anyone.

I thought The Last Jedi was fine. A bit of an improvement over the horrid comparisons over the prequels, but it's like a B- grade.
Vegans honestly have a right to be the stereotypical "preachy vegan". Most of the common vegan talking points, even if they are exaggerated sometimes, are often true. Eating meat is more damaging than common proposed vegan alternatives, and both arguments from ethics as well as arguments from the environment and the economy and such have merit. As a meat-eater myself, it's humbling to admit it, but vegans do honestly have the moral high ground. That isn't to say that you're a bad person for not being a vegan, and it's very true that eating meat is incredibly culturally embedded in our society, and that in some cases, it isn't actually viable to go without eating meat. However, the brazen immaturity of those who openly conflict with vegans (all those "eating meat infront of a vegan lol" vlogs spring immediately to mind) are not only honestly cringe-worthy, but will be seen in a really bad light in the decades coming when we no longer battery farm animals and instead lab grow meat or whatever. It'll be seen in the same way we look at over-the-counter heroin, or blackface.
the instinctive dumb spam on this post says it all
Are you sure its instinctive, or is because of comparisons to blackface and heroin 🤔🤔🤔

It's a comparison meant to highlight the immaturity of the stereotypical anti-vegan mindset. It's not a good one, a terrible one even, but people seem to be incapable of reading past that one bad point to see the rest of his reasoning. An analogy isn't meant to be a bijective function for fuck's sake. Attacking the weakest point in an argument without addressing the others makes you look intellectually lazy, and only serves to bolster your opponent's stance.
I mean, personally I compare the immaturity of people against vegans to general food snobs. People who say x type of pizza is the best pizza, or wine, or steak, etc. But people who rub it in others face that they're vegan, are still just as annoying as anyone rubbing anything in anyone elses face.
A dumb also isn't an argument against a post, its a rating. Anyone can dumb any post for any reason. If they think the post is dumb because of that point (which like you said, is really fucking stupid), they can do that. There is no written agreement that a rating is a response to the sum of the entire post's point.
Fair point, and I realised that as well, but my second post was a more general callout of people who argue in that lazy fashion by attacking the weakest points and completely ignoring the rest of a person's argument.
It's literally just an enumeration of two things that used to be popular and relatively unchallenged in the past that today we look down on. I don't see the implication that eating meat is the same as blackface. Do you guys think that Samiam22 thinks that over-the-counter heroin and blackface are the same things too? This is just the basic principle of charity.
Meat=blackface
I think we're more likely to see blackface become inoffensive due to sheer time, better attitudes, and thus lack of relevance, before we see eating meat as a cultural stigma. I know that's probably hard to accept given how relevant race is to some people now, and I'm probably going to take flak, but I don't think my grandkids will give a shit about race, and my kids'll be pretty detached from it depending on what country they're raised in.

Lab-grown meat is coming to market in like a year or so. As kind of a luxury product of course, but that sets the scene for it to be much more affordable within 5-10 years. It's hard to predict these sort of things of course, but this paints a pretty feasible path to traditional meat being stigmatized in the near-ish future. To be pedantic about your post btw, it's not that eating meat is bad. Meat is one of the most direct and easy ways to get certain nutrients our body needs, most people enjoy the taste, and it's great to cook with. It's the killing of animals that people really object to, and meat from live animals is what is likely to become stigmatized. Although, I expect there to be some exceptions such as hunting (our ecosystems need it.) Whereas on the other hand, race relations are a very complicated problem whose end is nowhere near on the horizon. Someday, probably, but I wouldn't be willing to bet that it'll happen in my life. Not while the effects of historical racism are still very visible.
people who value snapchat streaks for the sake of having streaks are vapid and boring
People who make resounding judgments of other peoples' entire personality based on minor things are shallow and- wait a second.
