It's not for everyone, that's for sure. Both people need to have immense trust in each other and view sex with other people in the same light. If either one of them can't do that, then the relationship will probably end up failing, but there's a very large variety of things that can break relationships. Some people are too attached to their work or free time, whereas other people want extreme closeness with their partner.
And it can be this for many fetishes as well. If one person has a very big thing for BDSM and the other one doesn't, it's unlikely that the relationship will last since the other person will end up feeling sexually unsatisfied. But you wouldn't say BDSM dangerous because of this, would you? If both people are into it equally much, they'll probably end up doing fine. I think cuckolding is the same, really.
