I love donating blood. They give me orange juice and graham crackers. :)
Apparently being a Brit in the US forbids you from blood donations. Something about Mad Cow disease that still has them spooked.
If you've lived outside of the US for a period greater than or equivalent to 3 years you cannot donate blood
There was a blood drive at my school, and I went to donate but my temperature was too high.
I haven't (due to age) but I plan to give plasma when in 18+.
I have donated several times, each time I got is difficult though, I have a crippling phobia of needles so I need to take a friend with me to hold my hand each time I donate. But when you're done they give you cookies :D
I have wanted to but always miss the chance or have been too scared to.
It's a great feeling. That blood will save someone's life.
Blood has a limited shelf life and most of it gets incinerated.
Extremely low blood pressure here. I would have to stand on my head to give the full amount.
I need to find out my blood type. Is the any requirements you must meet?
Apparently being a Brit in the US forbids you from blood donations. Something about Mad Cow disease that still has them spooked.
I thought that had something to do with the fallout from Chernobyl? That's what it is for Australia I think.
If you've lived outside of the US for a period greater than or equivalent to 3 years you cannot donate blood
Yeah that's why my father can't donate blood. He was in the Air Force stationed in Germany for about 3 years I think back in the late 80's. He really misses being able to give blood.
Yeah I've donated a couple times before. Don't really have a rare blood type but I know my Mom's is
The blood flow was slow on my friend, so the person had to twist the needle in his skin :v:
I smoke, so I can't give blood. Sucks, cause I've tried too and they said "Do you smoke?" "Yes." "Sorry, we cannot draw your blood." Fuck. :(

My dad smoke loads and still gives blood. I really don't understand the whole thing about gay people not being able to give blood though
I don't think I'm allowed to donate since I was born with Jaundice/Icterus . On another note, my friends grandmother has donated the most blood of all people in the Nordic Countries, she was forced to stop because of her age.
How many of you have been kind enough souls to donate the very essence of life? -inb4spermdonation- Tell us your experiences if you did, if not. Tell us why you won't Today i donated for the first time, sitting in that damn recliner had me nervous as hell, as soon as the needle went in it didn't hurt as much as i thought it would, later on i just sat there squeezing the damn Red Cross hand...thing once every 5 seconds, i soon kinda zoned out and forgot the needle was even inside. Long story short, needles hurt a little but don't be scared. I know I'll be donating next year again
I actually donated blood for the first time this past monday at my highschool. I was a bit nervous but then when it was all said and done it was a very rewarding experience and it made me feel good the entire day. the reason was because if you think about it your blood might be the blood that helps a person live even if it's for just one day.
Wait, who pays you to give blood? And how much money? I'm in the USA...
Make sure you get people who know what they're doing. I donated to the Red Cross detachment at my school, and they stabbed my arm three times, missed, and gave up.
I thought of doing this. See, they were having a big "Starve the Vampires" thing at school sponsored by CW15, which is nowhere near us, some Comcast channel for Philidelphia, and we're in south central PA. I chose not to because I hate needles - I get 3 a week for allergies -.- [editline]05:32PM[/editline]
Really? My dad smoke loads and still gives blood. I started when I was 18 and used to go regular every three months but I've not been for years now. I don't know why, just never seem to get round to it.
Gays are disease carriers (AIDS)
Rated dumb

They don't even ask about that. It's mostly just if you are on any medication that affects your blood (many medicines are fine), if you've done drugs or gotten a tattoo recently, and if you have sex with man-man sex or have had sex with a man who does so. Oh, and if you've been out of the country recently for 6+ months.
I've donated before, completely fine had no issues with it at all. Although once when I was with my friend who was donating blood I got incredibly light headed and the people there had me lay down on a little bed with a cool rag on my head while my friend laughed at me.
Gays are disease carriers (AIDS)
You're the biggest fucking retard I've ever seen on this forum.
Every year my school has them come and we can voluntarily give blood. I gave it once, then they called me every other 3 months or so to see if they could get some more. I was gonna give the last time they called me but I had Swine Flu and I'm pretty sure that's not what they want to give to a 7 year old kid that just got in a car accident.
I don't think I'll ever donate blood. I'm deathly afraid of needles. I realize that they don't hurt, and I'm not afraid of pain. But something about them just scares me. To the extent of me actually choosing to cutting myself with a pair of scissors instead of that tiny needle prick to get the blood droplet needed for a blood sugar test. (This was when I first found out I had diabetes. Ironic, isn't it?)

Don't worry, the government is not inserting mind control devices into you when you donate blood. MythBusters did an entire segment on it.
I'm also pretty scared of needles, you just have to go through with donating blood once so you can confront your fears about them. They're not so bad when you know that the person using them is trained to use them for a specific purpose.
