ALL Cable Blows. Seriously You pay $200+ for HDTV receiver, HD channels, Cable internet, You take there SHITTY phone service that eats your internet bandwidth anyway. AND THEY STILL make you watch commercials! IF anything has ads it should be FREE! Christ these idiots need to wake the fuck up. Basic cable is 20 bucks a month, and there is so many commercials and If you want to add the Cheapest cable internet package its 60 fucking dollars and you are forced to pay for basic cable. /rant
Midcontinent is pretty cool shit. Or at least all we get where we live. I think we pay $120 for digital cable, internet, and a phone landline. All the standard channels are now digital (which look tons better on a HDTV) and you can get local HD channels if you have a TV with a digital tuner. They are still broadcasting analog for backward compatibility though.
Our digital cable box sucks dick though. Its an 8 year old Motorola, and can barely run the on-screen menu's (you can watch every part being rendered). It also crashes everytime an EAS test comes up. You can't change the channel once the test is over and the display on keeps showing "EAS". The built-in volume control doesn't disappear by itself either, you have to get rid of it yourself by pressing exit. It also went monochrome once on me as well.
50 channels for $80 a month, feels bad man
[QUOTE=CivilProtection;23228752]Well I'm getting cable soon but i live in Australia and as you'd know Australians get screwed over big time when it comes to anything relating to technology (iphone 3gs in america is $99 now, in Australia its like $700). In Australia we only have one provider, Foxtel (obviously owned by fox) and they pretty much have a monopoly and keep increasing their prices. It's AU$88 a month (about US $70) for about 50 channels. How many providers do you guys have, how much does it cost and how many channels do you get?
here's a channel list of what i'm getting (animal planets listed twice because the channel list is comprised of more than one package)

Not just Foxtell...
Austar as well, I find Austar better because all they do is come put some big ass radar on your roof and you can watch it in the middle of the bush as long as there isn't a storm
I don't even watch TV anymore since BBC iplayer came out and I use surfthechannel for everything else.
My cable comes in a package and averages out to ~$35/month for ~500 channels.
Pay barely anything for 50 channels in the united kingdom. Cable Antenna
I use Direct TV.
We have 3 channels, all of them porn
