Yeah, but you make it sound as though Epiphones are bad guitars (I know you didn't say that, but it gave off the impression), when they really aren't. I got an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra for christmas (not opened it yet of course but I had to be there to try it out) and it's absolutely brilliant quality. It was expensive too, since it is a high end one. I could have got an American made Strat.
Yeah but who wants a strat?
If you're going to spend that much on a guitar, get a fucking nice Ibanez or Jackson or something, geez.
Yeah but who wants a strat?
Me
Yeah, and If I had the choice between a Les Paul and a Stratocaster, I'd take the Strat.
I'd take the Stratocaster in a heartbeat.
I wouldn't, and I didn't. The LP had a better tone.
This, i prefer my sound to be humbucked.
Sure, I'd put a humbucker on it. But if I had a choice, I'd chose neither. LP's are too mucky-sounding and too small for my long fingers. Strats are just bulky and kinda boring, really.
Like I said before I'd take a nice Jackson/Dean/Ibanez over either any day. Much more suited to my needs.

P.S. - Not bashing on your guitar, OP. It's a real sweet axe, but just not suited for me.
Sure as fuck aint as high end as gibsons though.
Well, some of the old ones are pretty good.

Strats are amazing.
K I'm gonna read the headstock won't be surprised if its an Epiphone
You shouldnt use it, you probobly cant even play the guitar, either you never touched a guitar, or you just started and think the neck is thicker than your starter guitar.

I'm not gonna play this don't take me for a complete idiot I know about guitars
I'm not gonna play this don't take me for a complete idiot I know about guitars
Then what make is it?
I'm not gonna play this don't take me for a complete idiot I know about guitars
If you knew about guitars the first thing you would've done is find out who made your guitar.
Duuurrr He's a troll ladies and gents
It says Lotus
Strats have clear bluesy sound that you just can't get with humbuckers or many other guitars for that matter.
It says Lotus
:geno:
Well that's an anti-climax.
It says Lotus
It's a Les Paul copy then. Probably still a good guitar, but definitely not worth anywhere near as much as an Old Gibson would be.
I would recommend just keeping it because you're not going to be selling that for much if you tried.
Also on the hot topic of strat vs LP, I'd take strat, LPs are heavy as fuck, and you just can't beat that vintage single coil tone. LPs are cool and it's not like I would never have one, but I just prefer strats, plus you can just get a strat HSS if you want humbuckers.

This is exactl the reason I didn't want to post the headstock I knew it wouldn't be as "good" as anything that everyone here claimed it to be. Just shut the fuck up it means something to me. Same goes to everyone else who are gonna post something similar.
It's a good guitar, it's just not a valuable guitar. It's still worth a fair bit of money (not in guitar values but in general), just not as much as an old gibson.
Those two words are not the same when it comes to guitars. Seems lots of people think they are. If it's a sentimental item then keep it around and use it.

Yeah, old doesn't necessarily mean good. The old double cutaway LPs were trash, but now they're worth a ton of money.
Not sure what part of my post you're attempting to correct because you used keywords from both my sentences. :raise:
Either way, I think you are misinterpreting what I said. Or was that somebody else who put that disagree there?
"Lotus was a brand name of guitars used from the late 1970s until the late 1990s. Lotus guitars were usually copies of other brand name guitars, such as the Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Stratocaster. The quality of the instruments was very good for the price (usually around US$400–$900)."
Found that on Wikipedia.

Anyway, it's a nice vintage looking guitar. Congratulations, and sorry about your friend.
It's not like he was going to sell it anyway, it must have a lot of sentimental value.

Nope, just agreeing with you that "old" and "good" are two different things, and people often assume that old/valuable guitars are good from a product standpoint, whereas in truth a guitar that had a natural design flaw in '58 still has that flaw now.
