People say that OP underestimates the responsibilities of being a father; people underestimate the deep feeling of utter connection to that new life that you hold in your hands right after it has emerged from the love of your life. If he can handle it until then, he'll handle it afterwards. He'd have to be truly mentally ill to be able to abandon his baby after he looks at it in the hospital.

I don't understand why most of the people in here are going over the top about saying he won't be able to handle it, or having a go at him because he still lives at home, or because a mistake happened.
They're 24, it isn't a too young age, I don't know why a lot of people go on that 30 or above is the right age, a lot of people choose to have kids in their early 20s, although this wasn't by choice, it's still not a bad thing.
He works as a Network Engineer, they earn a pretty decent salary, above the average for the UK, and if his Girlfriend also works and can continue to work whilst pregnant then financially wise they will be sound for quite a while.
Ever thought that living at home is a choice and much easier than paying for a full on flat/house whilst he is still paying off his debts, he is lucky to have parents who are willing to do that, even if he pays his way it's going to be much cheaper than renting/buying his own at the moment, meaning he can afford to pay off his debts quicker and also save up money.
So what that a mistake happened, he isn't some teenager who can't handle it, his girlfriend was on the pill and lots of couples choose to use the pill rather than a condom, mistakes happen all the time. I was a mistake, my mum was only 17 when she became pregnant with me and my dad 18, but now I can say that my mother is only 36 whilst I am 18, meaning i'll be able to spend the majority of my life knowing her.
