Seriously can't tell it's shot at 3200 ISO... My camera's noise is noticeable for anything past 400-600 :v:
Got an interview for newport uni next week, putting my portfolio together today.
Have some more candid portraits: Hannie and Dave by edwin.quast, on Flickr Untitled by edwin.quast, on Flickr Think I may have posted this one before: Untitled by edwin.quast, on Flickr D by edwin.quast, on Flickr

Bopie... Are you taking pictures of your brother (?) every day for a year? I only really started taking an active input in this thread within the past month or so, so I'm not quite clued up on your project. I love the pictures though. Also, who's the guy that was going to do his own take on my face painting picture? ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/kieran_duncan/5462049913/ ) I wanna see how you got on!

Exactly, just ignore it.
Bopie... Are you taking pictures of your brother (?) every day for a year?
Yeah it seems like it haha, he just makes for a good subject when no one else is around. I broke up with my gf like two months ago so that also strangles the subject matter.
Never really done sports photography before, but I had a chance today and took it. I think I need some practice. And a faster tele-lens. Just been looking through my old Urbex photos from when I had next to no photographic knowledge (didn't know what rule of thirds was then :v:) and I quite liked this:
The rule of thirds isn't /that/ important really. It depends on the situation at hand. If you use it on all of your shots they will all become the same-y.
I never (at least consciously) use the rule of thirds. Still don't really quite understand it or what it is. Just look through the lens and move the camera/or myself around a little until I think it looks good. If they come out looking like I've used the technique it's a fluke. Don't live by it. Trust your eye - nothing else.
Here are some more old pictures from before I had a DSLR: Don't like them at all but I have no other content to post at the moment.

Smoked a joint together at 9 in the morning outside Buckingham Palace. I miss my bro. He's moved back to Australia - and the rest of my family is planning on doing so before Christmas. I'll be the only one left in the UK after they go. In the process of trying to convince my girlfriend to move there with me after we finish University, but she's a Londoner born and bred and loves the place (for good reason, it's a great city - one of the best on Earth in my opinion). I've been sitting in the Library for 12 hours today. Writing an assignment. Treating myself to Facepunch Photography Thread every time I get a substantial bit of work done. With all the jumping involved, getting down low could really help with accentuating the height of those slams. The focusing isn't too bad, and the shutter speed is just slow enough to provide a sense of movement. But yeah, you need some practice, certainly, but they're not too bad for a first attempt.
Just went to upload some pictures from an open mic night earlier, only to be told I'd reached my upload limit. Fucking hell flickr. I now have a pro account. That's a weeks' worth of lunches gone :C Also contribution. Took this on my (now b-hazard's) 1000D in October. I only use rule of thirds as a guideline for my horizons

My first attempt at capturing the movement of the stars, I'd say it was relatively successful. The light pollution is pretty bad here, the hill is surrounded by towns and cities. This particular exposure was 13 minutes, and I'm pretty happy with it for a first attempt. Star photography has a pretty steep learning curve and requires a lot of trial and error... here's to more experiments, and hopefully warmer summer nights. If anybody has any tips I's really appreciate it. It had a lot of speckling, which I had to fix in post... is that a sensor issue?

234/365 - i feel out of touch with this whole picture taking business. i'm just having fun with floating/playing with a new aesthetic, rather than trying to be groundbreaking/imaginative/whatever. Anyway, the way I do it is one layer on top of the other and just take my time erasing at ~400% zoom with a ~10px brush. it's easier to see your own mistakes with these, they usually look perfect to other people.
Yo Bopie, what off-body flash sync do you use?
