Went out and took some photos, I'm pleased with the results, but as always they could be better. Fine for a beginner though.

:owned:
Do any of you also find that when you take a self portrait you think, "Damn I'm ugly." but then you look at yourself in a mirror and you think, "Why can't I look like this in pictures?"
We went over that recently lol.
But yeah self portraits take practice, its about feeling natural in front of the camera.
How do you say Bokeh?
Click agree for 'boak'
or click disagree for 'boakayy'
(Like the way he says it, not like "Kai")
bokeh! SOME BOKEHLICIOUSNESS-NESS
First 'photoshoot' with someone I barely knew: was awkward, and on top of that, my girlfriend decided to start a fight right before the model (she was awesome, posed automatically, natural, etc.) got there so I was in a weird mood, no excuses though. The shots are mediocre, but oh well. Learning experience I suppose. Hopefully the medium format turns out better :P

I can't wait for it to warm up.
Is the focus soft, or am I getting tired?
It is. I imported into lightroom and wanted to die.
/discouraged as shit.
I decided to backup my entire lightroom catalogue onto my VPS, 20gb at 70kb/s upload speed is 3.5 days :downs:
I might start using my AWS buckets
Going out to take photos of someone jumping around. Expect crap.
Well, expect nothing. Almost got caught in my old school (shits getting demolished). Anyway. I had my tripod, camerabag, 1000D and a friend. I was flashing for AF Assist, decided to mf, looked through the viewfinder at some light, heard my friend go "shit". I moved my eyes from the viewfinder to see a car light coming down the road. We ran over to fence at the side, before realizing that's where the guy was parking. We doubled back behind the building, and hid for a minute. We waited a few seconds, before moving through plants and rubble to get to the way we came in (the gates were wide open). My friend went "three... two.. one... go!" and I ran, slipped on a bit of cardboard and kept running. My friend had my tripod and went full pelt out the exit. I closley followed about a metre behind, holding my eos 1000D, running for my fucking life.
We got out, and ran for about 20m at full speed. Me being the build I am, this was unimaginably fast to me. My throat was aching. I needed a drink. We thought we might have been seen, so we run down a side street for about 30s, before going to said friends house. We didn't get a single picture of my old class. Dead disappointed but I got out without being harmed or caught, so I'm happy in that respect.
If you read that, have a cookie.

I saw those pictures and was like "Wow, they are really good quality, I wonder what overly expensive camera took those.." Then I looked at the EXIF and saw its the ONE I JUST FREAKING BOUGHT :D
Nice pics. Sharp, good colours.
The cookie was lovely. Thanks :D
Glad you got out okay though.
the 1000D is a weapon. Apart from it's horrible lack of AF-assist lamp

I've noticed with the Sigma 50mm f1.4 that if there's a very bright source of light (particularly over-exposed) behind something darker, it shows a pretty massive amount of red CA at any aperture value smaller than like f/2.8...

Why would you have got in so much crap? Wouldn't they have just told you to get out as they could clearly see you weren't stealing anything.
Here is a nice 100% crop to give you an idea:

under uk trespass law I won't get fucked by the crown, but the people owning it can charge. Yes, I didn't do anything illegal (civil offence) but I might go again tomorrow.
This is a horror-example though, it's usually nowhere near this bad.
[editline]29th January 2011[/editline]
Oh fucking shit the same thing again stop it assholes D:
[editline]29th January 2011[/editline]
(No you're not really assholes :) )
That's ok. Most likely slightly soft wide open causing it, and stopping down does increase sharpness. It's not CA though, it's something else.
