[QUOTE=Scotchair;28716015]I get some serious purple fringing when making up HDR images sometimes :([/QUOTE] Using Photoshop? Try the remove ghosting feature. I'm sure equivalent programs have similar features.
Nah, photomatix... I get it when I set it to maximum data crunching! It's not that huge a deal... it's fixable in photoshop, and you only really notice it at 100%.
I see you latir. Got something to share with us?
Haven't gone out and taken photos, but here is the first one I edited with camera raw from my little adventure around the highway. It was during rushhour too, but I took a very long exposure. 5seconds or so, F22, 100ISO, with a ND3 filter. If you like it, I'll post more from my edits. [media]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Road4_12801.jpg[/media]
I'm confused as to what taking a long exposure did differently for that photo, besides stopping down so much you start to lose sharpness.
Because of the cars. Shooting for that long helps sell the empty highway feel I was going for. I also took about 30 pictures in each setting to blend together later, but it was dark enough to do long enough exposures in order to "erase' the cars. [img]http://puu.sh/1hhX[/img]
DOF? Edit: Oh, I see.
I wouldn't have thought 5 seconds was long enough to make them invisible. I guess they'd be going fast enough though. Nice.

i feel like you shouldn't have cropped it.
In the top photo you see some lights near the top, but it looks just like fog mostly. So I think this shot came out great. My inspiration is from matt logue who did a series called Empty LA. it's breathtaking. Worth checking out. [url]http://mlogue.com/p586914549[/url] I've currently taking a digital photo class, simply since I know digital photography, but I might as well try to learn some more and for my transcript, so I told my prof I'd be doing photos like this.
looks to me like he's taking multiple shots and combining them to erase people and cars without having to strangle the quality of light. i think it's called a 'composite image', people use it to make it look like all the cars are a certain color, etc. [url=http://gizmodo.com/#!5638672/shooting-challenge-composites]this explains it pretty simply.[/url]
I know what it is, and I've been doing that for awhile. I just decided to try a long exposure as well. I simply took the cleanest shot and edited it to see how it looked and I was pleased. I also took many photos from the same position in an attempt to composite them together as well.
[QUOTE=B-hazard;28714408]How does this look? [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/isaacbrownbridge/5544443846/][img_thumb]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5260/5544443846_c9e1eeab95_b.jpg[/img_thumb][/url] [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/isaacbrownbridge/5544443846/]IMG_9649[/url] by [url=http://www.flickr.com/people/isaacbrownbridge/]Isaac Brownbridge[/url], on Flickr[/QUOTE] too muddied. the foreground is barely sharper the foreground, and the edges of the bokeh further clutter the scene. you need to shoot with a smaller aperture so the glasses are all sharp (or reasonably sharper if you don't want all of them so). you should adjust the lighting so the foreground is emphasized. I don't think you could get away with merely burning
Oh that lighting. On the second one there isn't any border, the light from the window only illuminated a small part of the room. Similar location, this one was done via compositing. And It's certainly sharper. Though I did it via jpeg's not raw files so it doesn't have the kind of color detail I got from the one before. [img]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Road_1_Edit1.jpg[/img]

[editline]21st March 2011[/editline] I'm thinking of starting a little "motivation challenge", where each week I (or someone else) sets a topic for the week that is quite broad and can be approached from many angles for everyone to take a photo of. Photos are then submitted and we give feedback. Would anyone here be interested in something like this? I just think it would be good to motivate myself to go outside of my boundaries, and challenge others to do so as well.
and another lot for today, love the way that the Kodak Ektar made the colours come out in these: [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/5529320962/][img]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5014/5529320962_5c3c0535ea_z.jpg[/img][/url] [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/5529320962/]tree with steps[/url] by [url=http://www.flickr.com/people/jhaslehurst/]jhaslehurst[/url], on Flickr [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/5528731501/][img]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5054/5528731501_710297d701_z.jpg[/img][/url] [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/5528731501/]train to perth[/url] by [url=http://www.flickr.com/people/jhaslehurst/]jhaslehurst[/url], on Flickr [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/5528728727/][img]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5137/5528728727_eb057133fb_z.jpg[/img][/url] [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/5528728727/]next station: queens park[/url] by [url=http://www.flickr.com/people/jhaslehurst/]jhaslehurst[/url], on Flickr

I reckon best way to go about it would be for a mod to make a new thread. I wonder if it should be locked until the end of the week when we all post one day, and give feedback the next? I dunno, just trying to think about how it could be organised to stop it being a big mish mash of photos where some might get missed. Good idea anyway :)
For the past few days it's been snow and sun I dont think I'll get much post worthy photos wit that kind of weather
[img]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5296/5546516138_53872b386c_b.jpg[/img] So I guess this is the first photo that I've felt is at least decent enough to be posted here. I hope it's alright :unsmith:
In all honesty, regardless of it's size... I love it

This is probably the friendliest place on Facepunch, so whatever you want to post is fine to post.
[QUOTE=Nonikai;28725110]In all honesty, regardless of it's size... I love it[/QUOTE] Thanks! I figured out how to get Flickr to give me the BBCode for the larger image so the size has been fixed. Also thank you Larpar, I'll definitely post some more in the future.
